STEPHEN KING'S IT WEEKEND THREAD | 117.15 Mill!....NO SPOILERS..NOT EVEN IN TAGS!

Recommended Posts

On a Stephen King standpoint again, IT's preview # outgrossed the domestic totals of Cats Eye, Graveyard Shift, Silver Bullet, Dark Half, Apt Pupil, and Maximum Overdrive just to name a few. I'm going to say this but the Stephen King trend from the 80's/90's may be making a small comeback in the future.

We have had 10 100+ non-CBM openers in the last 3 years:

  1. SW7 248 (2015) Disney
  2. JW 208.8 (2015) Universal
  3. BATB 174.75 (2017) Disney
  4. RO 155.1 (2016) Disney
  5. F7 147.2 (2015) Universal
  6. DORY 135.1 (2016) Disney
  7. MINIONS 115.7 (2015) Universal

IT/WB could make an entrance and push MJ2/LFG out.

All of those films came out 247 years ago.

Well recently we've had the Carrie remake, Under The Dome, 11/22/63, Cell, The Mist, The Dark Tower, Mr. Mercedes, IT, and Gerald's Game at the end of the month. Along with Castle Rock coming up next year. And this is just the stuff already released or planned  (even if some of it may not be good).

The showing of It that just started: 33/78

The 11:45 finished at 37/78

Home Again in 10 minutes has 13/113

That seems really strong for a movie like IT this early in the day.  I'm seeing sellouts and "almost full" for 930pm-1130pm really popping up around here.

Tonight is going to be a fucking madhouse because there are no showings for 3 days. People will settle for the front rows. I will laugh my ass off if they don't move It into the two biggest auditoriums Tuesday-Thursday with the way 9/11 and Home Again are performing.

The Stand baldy needs a remake, the miniseries was fine for what it was but the story deserves the big movie treatment alongside IT.
I've always considered IT and The Stand to be King's greatest novels, and I'm so happy at IT being a mega hit!

Ugh I forgot 9/11 was coming out this weekend. I'm a little curious of how much of a trainwreck it really is.
