Best animated feature nom possible??

Nope. Unless you’re The Incredibles animated superhero movies especially those based on previous material don’t get Oscars.

Yeap, one of the most WTF-moment. Lego Movie, "The Tale of Princess Kaguya" were out.

Academy was too snobbish to nominate Lego and some idiot voter went on record saying "Who cares about this Chinese thing?" regarding Kaguya (and Song of the Sea which wasn't even an Asian production but racism follows no logic). So it was just between BH6 and HTTYD2BH6 had the edge as it had a better release date, better box office, was WDAS just coming off the Frozen phenomenon, and it was the first film to heavily feature the Hyperion software's super rendering technology.

Also, as far as the general public and most Academy voters were concerned, Big Hero 6 was pretty much an original property thanks to how obscure its source material was and how completely cut off the movie was from other Marvel properties. Teen Titans Go! and Into the Spider-Verse have a more uphill battle as they feature more marquee characters.

The show also trolled those people a few times I think.

They did. So well, that those people share clips of them being trolled as proof that the show knows it isn't as good as the original.

I admit that I am "this close" to buying tickets for 6 for next Wednesday...would only be my kids' 2nd movie of the year (after I2)...it sounds like my favorite DC character is done right, and that may be worth a watch all by itself...and 3 of my kids are motivated (and the oldest, the teen, said it might be okay:)...

Lego wasn't even nominated.  I had no problem with that, not a big fan.

Princess Kaguya and Song of The Sea would have been my choices for the win though BH6 was easily the best of the big studio movies.

I know. And this even more WTF-moment.

Totally disagree. This wasn't better than HTTYD2. One of the weakest work from DA ever. "Bolt" level.  Only winner in 2007 ceremony was worse- cause there all three animations were absolutely meh.

Those people now have F**k Batman so they should stop bitching already. They got their "adult" (edgy juvenile nonsense) Teen Titans show.

I’m pretty sure most of the people who hate TTG also hate that trailer for Titans. There’s no need to strawman them.

The budget for this is apparently $7m which seems a bit low considering they've got quite a few name actors for some of the roles but if true, it'll be very profitable for OW even on a $55-60m domestic total

I remember hearing that a while ago. I could see it being true, given that the show it’s based on supposedly only takes around one to two weeks to complete a single episode, but I’m not sure.

Anyway, if this movie does well, I could see it leading to a resurgence in theatrical movies for popular animated shows. Apart from the Simpsons and Spongebob movies, those pretty much seemed to die out in the early 2000s.

I don't think it was hugely expensive but $7m even by animation movies standard is super cheap. I was thinking more like $15m

Well, it does appear to be animated in Flash like the show, at least for the character models. Flash animation is pretty cheap.
