Don't let reality get in the way of that. People don't get that the film business is a real roller coaster. The studio that could do no wrong last year might be at the bottom of the heap this year. Universal for years could do nothing right at the box office, then had an incredible year in 2015,and a so so year this year. Warners. over a long period,is one of the better perfroming studios. The only studio that seems never to have a bad year is Disney. Anyway BR2049 is not a Warners film as far as production goes, WB is only releasing it. If there is a third Kingsman film you can bet the budget will be a lot less then the second film.
AndyK
Was going to see BR49 this weekend but couldn't convince the Mrs to go. She saw the trailer and didn't find it appealing. I think we have the smoking gun.

a2k
SMH pumped up Sony's gross this year. Next year: Proud Mary Sony / Screen Gems 1/12/18 Peter Rabbit Sony / Columbia 2/9/18 Alpha Sony / Columbia 3/2/18 Paul, Apostle of Christ Sony / Columbia 3/28/18 Slenderman Sony / Screen Gems 5/18/18 Sicario 2: Soldado Sony / Columbia 6/29/18 Hotel Transylvania 3 Sony / Columbia 7/13/18 The Equalizer 2 Sony / Columbia 8/3/18 Barbie Sony / Columbia 8/8/18 Cadaver Sony / Screen Gems 8/24/18 Goosebumps 2 Sony / Columbia 9/21/18 Venom (2018) Sony / Columbia 10/5/18 The Girl in the Spider's Web Sony / Columbia 10/19/18 Holmes & Watson Sony / Columbia 11/9/18 Animated Spider-Man Sony / Columbia 12/14/18 AniSM and Venom combined may not do what SMH did (and even if they do then their combined prod & marketing budgets will be more than SMH's too). The year to year drop may look bad. Barbie can always them rescue them, amirite?

Nope 2016 wasn't a bad year but BvS's huge under performance was a cloud over it because the dceu was supposed to be there untouchable big franchise. Now we don't even know if Justice League is going to make a billion dollars and that should have been an easy play.

HT3 and ASMM are likely for $150M+, Proud Mary and Peter Rabbit have chances for $100M. Everything can make nice profits for Sony. I think Goosebumps 2 may move to 2019 or 2020. a2k
So FLATLINERS actually held well and will close in on the 19m prod budget if theaters keep it around. Not sure how the OS release will play out. YM!
Although next year won't be as big for them as this year, WB should have a good year. Aquaman is locked for $300M+, and can even go to $400M. RP1 is a wildcard with massive breakout potential. Meg, The Nun and Oceans 8 will be nice moneymakers. Rampage can be 2018's San Andreas. Fantastic Beasts 2 should be in $200M ballpark. Tag and Tomb Raider can breakout. TTG has a chance for $100M as well.
