IT is at $651M WW after opening to a record breaking $7.7M in Italy, it is going to surpass The Sixth Sense next week to become the biggest Horror movie ever WW.

It's 24 away from 675...hopefully it can make it there.

Should add 8+ more dom after a 3.5 weekend.

You're overestimating how well-received HDD was by audiences. The RT audience score is at 71%, which is fine but doesn't exactly indicate it would have good holds.

It is extremely solid for a Horror movie, it’s above well received movies like The Shallows, Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation, and not far away from Split (79%).

I have no idea why it is dropping like it has awful WOM, one of the most WTF run that I ever saw.

And it made thirteen times its budget. I'm sure they are sad about its "uneventfulness"

Illumination is damn impressive. They know how to make a crowdpleaser for the families. I think Universal might bring DWA back to blockbuster heights. But are you really surprised DM3 made $1B, especially when Minions did $1.1B and DM2 was close to $1B.

Can we stop with this whole America sucks thing or whatever y'all are doing. Good movies perform poorly sometimes. It happens. Get over yourselves.

It happens every year. Good movies flop or disappointment sometimes. No need to have a tantrum.

It’s dropping because it was boosted by Friday the 13th and had a majority teenage audience that tends to rush out to see films.  That fucking simple.

No, it isn’t since it wasn’t front-loaded during it’s OW.

And being teenager oriented isn’t an excuse, Ouija 1 got a strong 2.6, despeite being an awful movie.

The Shallows, Lights Out, and Annabelle Creation all came out during the summer. The last one especially benefited from a weak market altogether.

The overseas numbers for Happy Death Day are quite low. I mean, movie opened with 5 million overseas and is now at 12 million ( updayed today ).

Anyway, the movie is a sucess because the budget is so low. I liked it and I'm happy I watched it.

It’s only main market this weekend was UK, it is going to finish above Jigsaw both DOM & OS.

Also because it's absolutely not scary. It's Legally Blonde meets Groundhog Day meets Scream, in that order.

Ouija debuted near Halloween (which HDD will also get a boost from).  Without it, probably wouldn’t have crossed a 2.2x

Maybe Universal should have kept Insidious 3 in October and released HDD in January. Maybe people are more in the mood for a more serious toned horror film in October. The comedy element probably wouldn’t have bothered as much people in January. Also being comedy horror probably put it in direct competition with Madea.
