CoolioD1
so the top 8 categories are all gonna be won by just two films? ok!
Eric Quinn
I guess I'll make my new predictions. I'm not gonna predict any winners, because that's way too early, and I don't want to look like WrathofGoober and say all the main categories will be won by two movies. Ad Astra Backseat or Cheney or whatever the fuck it's called If Beale Street Could Talk Black Klansman First Man Mary, Queen of Scots The Old Man and the Gun Untitled Pippa Bianco Project Widows We the Animals
CoolioD1
disney might actually want it this time. the movie's in a great position if they actually work hard for it like universal did with get out then lock it down. 2
CoolioD1
also Quote A top Disney exec told me flat out that they would be campaigning not only Black Panther for the big prize but also the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns (from director Rob Marshall), which he was raving about, particularly for star Emily Blunt. who he says knocks it out of the park in the role for which Julie Andrews already has an Oscar.

WrathOfHan
Blunt could fulfill the category's newcomer slot. She's arguably overdue for a nomination and came close last year with Girl on the Train if SAG is anything to go by. I'm not really seeing any other possibilities for a first time nominee in Actress unless Foy is lead for First Man Edited March 7, 2018 by WrathOfHan
AniNate
Into the Woods got some attention so it wouldn't be that far-fetched.

Let the damn movies premiere first.
filmlover
I love Emily Blunt but calling her "arguably overdue for a nomination" is a stretch.

I still don't understand how she wasn't an easy nominee for Sicario tbh.
aabattery
I'd be pretty surprised if Claire Foy gets a nomination this year. Her role in First Man doesn't seem particularly juicy.

Yeah but The Devil Wears Prada is the only movie where I would really say she was outright snubbed (too bad we can't retroactively take away Abigail Breslin's nomination). Can't really say I would've nominated her for anything compared to her competition in those respective years.
