I FYCed Darkest Hour for a lot more categories than just score...

Dunkirk.  Beautiful looking movie with some excellent flight and fighter pilot scenes and the editing tries it's damnedest to give the movie some verve.  It's dry as a stick.  The young lead is so woefully dull he's a lead weight around the movie that desperately needed some passion since the character development is nil. Oy.    Noms:  Cinematography, Editing, Sound Mixing etc but that's it - no cookie for Nolan, no Best Picture

 

Wind River.  Another gorgeous movie but this one has  great lead acting and a couple of great characters.  I'm waffling on nominating for Screenplay or Best Film since the last act went a bit off the rails. Noms for Cinematography, Best Actor: Renner, Best Supporting Actor:  Gil Birmingham

i'd say him and waterston are the leads they do get way more to do than everyone else. as soon as david shows up the whole movie is just totally about him until the alien in ship stuff at the end

The Shape of Water is likely the last thing I get to sneak in for this unless I rent something on Google Play at the last minute (even though that's a long shot because I probably don't have the time). But not seeing everything makes for an interesting ballot, I suppose. I'll get in The Shape of Water, which I think I'll like, and yesterday, I watched The Big Sick, so that film will definitely be given some nominations from me.

I really liked that movie.  It just missed Screenplay and Best Pic for me.  I might change my mind though...

 

Meanwhile Gifted will be getting some love from me  (Film, Actor, Supporting Actress) and I'm probably alone in that.
