If they want they can try selling TG2 as a patriotic movie with big star. See how American sniper combined both element and deliver big surprise. But that approach is very prone to controversy and American sniper was greatly helped by Oscar buzz too, although being a sequel should offset that.

They´re certainly expecting pretty good reviews to drop them 15 days prior release, let´s see if they´re right

 

I do think it will be good tho, Top Gun was reevaluated since release and now it´s a nostalgic piece

Cause Top gun is a bit boring at parts, but they seem really confident about this and Empire City says its great and they've seem to have brought in some of the mission impossible people for this

Btw, VERY excited for LG's song! She's a fantastic singer/artist. So the tickets go on sale May 3, and that's when the song comes out. Seems like they'll use the song to sell the tickets and vice-versa.
