Just saw an interview with Michael Ironside from 2018 and he revealed why he was not asked to come back for Top Gun 2.  Says he and Brtuckheimer had a falling out a few years back when Jerry asked Michael to do a show and Ironside didn't like the script and he declined.  Bruckheimer took it personally and hasn't spoken to him since.

Legend Powell was supposed to get the Male Star of Tomorrow award at CinemaCon before it got cancelled completely so hopefully he turns out to be the real star of this movie and gets the good offers he deserves if it's a hit (and doesn't see his career go nowhere like a number of people who have won that paid-for award have but then the ones who faded were easy to call).

And who could forget that brief moment in time when Alex Pettyfer was hyped to be our next leading man lmao (spoiler alert: pretty easy). The female side of the award isn't any less uneven in terms of success rate. The stars of Sorority Row? That's a good one.

Powell has a following online, but no different than taylor kitsch who was beloved from fnl who also got the award, but his movies flopped

This will probably move to next summer. Or maybe at Christmas this year. It's insane they started the marketing campaign with the release of first trailer, last summer.  Marketing campaign so far in advance is not a good idea

A global pandemic is a pretty hard thing to predict when planning your ad campaign
