Oh, wait - just fucking wait... Kosinski directing this??!!

Oblivion is one of my favourite movies ever, seen it 12 times in cinemas... No way now Top Gun 2 doesn't look good. :)

Gonna admit, Obivion was stunning visually.

This is the type of marketing they need to pump out. No more trailers for the film. More jaw dropping behind the scene footage. Emphasize the practical sunts/effects, and the IMAX experience.

Only aviation nuts care about planes doing crazy maneuvers. The rest of the audience wants a story. One of the reasons of the first one's success was the love story for women. I dont think they can replicate that again. Cruise is old and doesn't have the heat of his young days.

Marketing seems like it peaked too early. Feel like the first trailer should've dropped right now instead of at Comic-con.

True. Paramount fucked up again

So, does this movie actually have a plot?

Bad Guys (Russia/China/Iran) have some kind of new technology and are planing to do something bad. By Movie Logic because Maverick is a fossil he has abilities that somehow makes him a silver bullet against the Bad Guys' new technology, so now he need to train a new generations of pilots to have those abilities and together they'll go on a mission to bomb the shit out of those Bad Guys.

The producers of this film are very nervous after the events of the last 48 Hours. If a real war happens, with body bags coming home, a rah rah film is going to be a very hard sell.

We're not getting into a war with Iran even though the Soleimani assassination was an extraordinarily stupid move when its comes to safety of personal in the region.  Iran can't realistically retaliate directly without getting their airforce and soviet-era missile defense systems knocked out in a day leaving all of their important assets, infrastructure, and government buildings as target practice for US carrier groups and Tomahawks.
