Whatever it ends up making, it'll deserve every dollar it gets.

Those pre-sales.... they will get ya every time if you are not careful....

That being said - a 72M OD is phenomenal - reminds me of when New Moon hit that number and everyone was losing their minds except @baumer and I.

Also - all this restaurant talk, local non-chains are always the best, but you can't beat the consistency of going in someplace and knowing you can order the same thing you did half-way across the country and have it be relatively the same. That also being said..... Cheesecake factory, Red-Robin, etc are all meh at best (minus the actual you know, Cheesecake.)

The funny thing is, his theater could've probably squeezed in another BP showtime if they only showed a couple of trailers each time.

Nah, even if you cut it down to 5 mins per trailer pack, you've only saved 80 minutes out of 5 showings, which is the already upper limit of showings per screen.

I assume this was thursday night... couldn't they have squeezed in a post-midnight show if they wanted to?

When I went to see Den of Thieves last week they showed us trailers of 4-5 ultra-junk-looking movies (Hurricane Heist, a Wim Wenders melodrama with McAvoy and Vikander, some Jason Momoa thing called Braven) and then... showed the trailers of the same movies all over again, the really weird part being that the second time they were either shortened or different entirely. Never had that happen before. Maybe the local distributor (all these movies share the same one) is that desperate.

TFA, TLJ, its above both Avengers at this point (but so was R1) depends how rest day plays out and with presales

Depends on the theater really.  At the end of the day(literally, lol) if you are going to have shows past midnight, 5-10 minutes isn't going to make much of a difference in the decision making.

Admittedly this is an extreme case, but the different between 9 trailers and 2 trailers is probably, what, 20 minutes? That with 2 showtimes (a 7pm and a 10pm) would mean a third show would be viable without going crazy late. (At least in LA, I guess if it's a small town they don't wanna do a 12:30 or 12:45 show, heh).
