The thing I don't understand is Proboxoffice and other outlets have underestimated IW every week since it opened. How long will it take them to be a bit less conservative?

I am not surprised that Action Point is bombing. Aside from the fact that its an extremely dated concept I had no idea what the hell that movie was. I thought it was some action flick starring some nobody that a studio was dumping. I literally found out that it stars Johnny Knoxville and is similar to Jackass yesterday when Empire City brought up how terrible it was doing. Then I watched the trailer for it and I was like yup makes sense for it to bomb.

It's not them. It's Disney. Disney gives out the estimates for the trades to report on.

Pretty steep drop for Solo. I'll try to avoid talking about the other thing but I think it's clear at this point that the movie itself has to share the blame.

It's a "serviceable" movie as many critics have called it, but that's not really enough to make people watch it. Especially if they are not sold on the concept in the first place.

It will be around $252m-$254m after this weekend and at nearly $280m by the time Incredibles 2 opens.

It might have enough push to get above $300m, but maybe not.

I'd love it if it did. I actually enjoyed the movie way more than the first.

Re Action Point, as somewhat of a coaster/theme park enthusiast I don't find the conceit of a dangerous theme park to be a particularly amusing one. We ride them for thrills, not for a death wish. We take their safety very seriously. Action Park only served to give them a bad name.

That's just my feelings on the matter, but I'm sure it also looked stupid and unfunny to everyone else too.

Think loads of women will watch I2, Helen is the lead in this one afterall.

She's doing more actiony stuff it seems but it seems like the main focus is Bob being a stay at home dad

But isn’t that like talking about JL without BVS

You don't really need to talk about BvS to talk about JL. Yes BvS played a role BUT if JL was actually a better movie, it would have done better. I don't know how much better but it wouldn't have done the abysmal numbers that it did. Sometimes it's not just about the movie that came before it but about the actual movie itself. I know plenty of folks who didn't watch JL because they saw it was getting terrible reviews and decided they weren't wasting their money on it. I personally would have watched it in theaters if it got good reviews but it didnt so I didn't waste my money on it either.

Vampire academy books are much better than twilight. Shame about the movie though!

I hate all these teen non-bloody vampire literature/movies . The only one I kind of like is true blood but at least that was bloody and gory as hell unlike the wimps that pass off as vampires in the other series. Anybody with an interest on vampires should check the necroscope series , now this portrays vampires as I love them, ruthless bloodlusting monsters .

Women have to watch something. Men will save their money

Do they HAVE TO watch something?  All kinds of other things for women to do.  Mow the lawn, fix cars, build houses, go to MMA class...

Same. Too bad Fox doesn't have another big release coming up that it could do double features with or try to fudge it over $300M

Nah they get numbers from studios and then the studio will also give them their Saturday and Sunday estimate based on the Friday number they got

IW projections:

2.8M (+100%)

4.5M (+60%)

2.7M (-40%)

Round up nicely for that 10M weekend estimate per Disney’s BO specialists.

Really disappointed in that Adrift number. Definitely thought it had the potential to go much higher, around 5M, given how well it did at my theatre last night (our equivalent of 6.4M !).

Maybe it was the shitty weather, but I really do think it shows that there’s an audience for the movie.
