Sell the MCU rights to Paramount

No. What they need to do is fire Kathleen Kennedy

I keep telling Disney this in every numbers thread and yet they won’t listen.

So underwhelming Ant-Man Numbers is what they deserve

Check the title.

solid start for HT3.

Pretty poor weekend overall imo. Not good holds for any of the movies - all of them over 50% drops with no huge releases. That is larger than past years, where drops tended to be around 40%.

it sort of feels like summer petered out a little by the end of June.

No they need to put Kennedy in charge of the MCU.

What we really need is the Snyder cut of Ant Man and The Wasp.

Deadline reports Sorry to Bother You is looking at $4M for the weekend while Eighth Grade is looking at $237K from 4 theaters (or a nearly $60K average, best average of the year so far aside from Isle of Dogs). Yay for both! I wonder what A24's expansion plan for the latter is.

Because it's the MCU.

People always want to spin it into gold when the MCU underwhelms.

Imagine what will happen when they get their first full-fledged, undeniably tanking flop.

If Wonder woman1984 or Shazam had the kind of second weekend this is having, the last word they would use is "doing aight."

Double standards...

The drop isn't good at all, but it's nowhere near a flop. If this movies 'only' makes $650m, it has less than HALF the budget of JL, it will increase 27% from the first movie. When everything is said and done, it might be a disappointment but it isn't a flop or bad by any standards.

YourMother’s Premature Weekend Recap

——————————————————————

Hotel 3 is doing good, albeit not the $50M OW I had thought but good nonetheless. Should cross the first one at least, aside from Teen Titans and Robin, competition is barren for it. WW is looking strong as well thinking $500M+ can happen.

Skyscraper is (trademarked) CRUMBUILDING!!!! But to be honest not surprised, it didn’t really look that great (Die Hard with The Rock) and opened after much more appealing blockbusters (I2, JWFK, and AMaTW to a lesser extent). Should have a decent worldwide total at least but probably won’t cross $60M or much higher.

Get Ant Man and The Wasp some Viagra cause it keeps on shrinking. That is a fugly drop but I believe it should rebound these next few weeks, the only real threat is Fallout. Probably will finish at $195M-$205M.

See ya next week.

I'd say it's the opposite. It's the sequel to one of the lowest grossing MCU movies, and it's doing the numbers you'd expect, yet 'flop' is being thrown around.  This movie doesn't do anything too different from the first one, and his appearance in Civil War was overshadowed by Spider-Man and Black Panther. I understand if the movie was significantly better than the first one, like in Winter Solider's case, but it's really not. They are more or less on par. Yet it's still increasing just by a virtue of being an MCU sequel.

Because it opened on Wednesday (where it had a gimmick) which led to a depressed 3-day. Had it opened on a Friday, the drop would be much uglier.

Ant man And Wasp budget is $162m according Deadline, its so big as Suicide Squad or Jurassic World, and bigger than Wonder Woman, Logan, Deadpool 2,  Budgets, Why do some people here talk like the budget of this movie was one of the smallest in superhero/blockbusters movies ever? he is not, he has a budget as big as most blockbusters, and bigger than some others blockbusters.

JWFK still can't stop the drop...it really might need a Rampage push to $400M at this point...

I know many of you might have been shocked by that a few weeks ago, but it still can't stop its weekend bleeds (at least in these estimates), and it has a lot of movies opening to take its theaters over the next 2 weekends (I'm foreseeing some big drops in theaters coming for the rest of July)...

Jack Black is not a draw. Stop being delusional just because you don't like The Rock. Oh and The Rock's last hit came out in April of this year. These forums are ridiculous with their petty doom and gloom talk. Also we don't have the international numbers yet.

I didn't say Jack Black, I said Jack Black BEING VERY FUNNY.

People initially came for nostalgia.

And they kept coming for Jack Black after wom spread about his performance.

No one gave a shit about The Rock raising an eyebrow.

Because it's not. Simple as that. Also what @That One Guy said.

Skyscraper could be a flop, though. At a 125M budget, it better hope that OS is really great (I presume it may be in China), cause it may not make 60M DOM with an OW like that.

HT3 doing about what I expected, which is good and very much in line with the other two films.

What @That One Guy said was irrelevant, arguably dumb. Doesn't answer my question. 👎

AMW could rebound, but right now it's looking pretty weak.

Mb though it was 'only $140m). I am not acting like it's the smallest budget. SS was a succes, so was DP2, i never said these movies were flops. So my point still stands, it costs $162m it will do 650m WW that is 4 times its budget. What do you want????
