Michelle Williams in Venom was a revelation.

Still my favourite performance of 2018.

It was like watching someone slowly dying inside, scene after scene.

Very few actors can access to that level of darkness & despair but Michelle pulled it off brilliantly.

 Simply incredible and terrifying.

Thanks to this role, she will be due for her Oscar next time she cries and sobs 3 times on cue for her next drama.

She won't get Oscar nom for this powerhouse perfomance because The Academy doesn't like cbm movies, but she has very high chances to get Razzies, deservingly so, because noone did such a convincing impression of the worst Megan Fox perfomances before, especially from high-profile actresses.

Netflix isn’t reporting weekend grosses for Alfonso Cuarón‘s Roma, but we’ve been hearing since Wednesday about sell-out shows at the Landmark’s Pico Blvd Los Angeles and W. 57th New York locations, and Manhattan’s IFC Center, and all in, Deadline industry sources say that the 5-day gross is an estimated $200K which works out to be $66,6K a screen.

That’s very good for a foreign film, and though apples-to-oranges in comparisons, that take is higher than the 3-day opening screen averages of such subtitled fare as Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution ($63,9K) and South Korea’s Battleship Island from CJ ($59,3K) (which both opened on one screen) and Walter Salles’ The Motorcycle Diaries ($53,2K average at three sites ) and Pedro Almodovar’s Talk to Her ($52,1K average at two), all of which are some of the best foreign film launches.

Also to explain Favourite's frontloadedness

Fox Searchlight’s The Favourite scored the best opening screen average of the year at $105K off four New York and Los Angeles theaters this weekend or $420K, but we are hearing that was padded by early shows on Wednesday and Thursday.

Bombin Hood going to challenge Solo for flop of the year.

Nope, because RH bombing was expected. Star Wars bombing was not. people expected under 1B and I think 700M+ was the lowest they thought it would go but under 400M is absolutely embarrassing for such a big brand.

Ralph Breaks The Internet $9,347,151 reported at 9PM EST. -30% from Saturday at same time. The full day could be around $13.5mn. That will give FSS of $56.3mn.

13.5 is 36% off from Saturday's estimate so you're doing a direct time of day comp Sat to Sun.  Are you looking at past years' Sunday at the same point to come up with the 13.5 number?

Sunday night shows will be weaker than Saturday. So 30% drop at 9PM EST will come out as 35% full day. Playing safe with 36%.

Off topic. Will any film ever break the PTA record of The Lion King. Freaking $793,377.

I have no idea how that number was even physically possible. How much did they charge for a ticket?

Probably not, it played New York Radio City Music Hall 5000 seats 3-4 session a day(weekend most sessions sold out) and the regular El Capitan in LA(1000 seats, at the time it had a record Saturday), the lion's share (haha)  of cause was taken by Radio City (probably have the figure somewhere). From memory tickets were like $25-30 back in 1994. That first week the PTA was like 1.6m. There was also a bit of a live show with it as well.
