Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1 | July 12 2023 | 99% on Rotten Tomatoes! | 290M budget so far, Cruise holding Paramount hostage for more money

Personally, I loved Kirby in this despite her small role. She's such a great actress.

I enjoyed it, particularly the deliciously ridiculous climax, but I prefer the previous two McQuarrie efforts. This one was a bit clumsy in places, and the plot was too confusing in parts - even for the standards of the franchise.

But it's still a great popcorn flick. I'm gonna miss this franchise, always guaranteed solid entertainment (except for #2, so glad it didn't kill the franchise).

I understand that there is a certain level of vagueness to the threat/villain in Dead Reckoning, but I honestly felt like the plot was very streamlined this time around. On my first viewing of Rogue Nation a couple of weeks ago, I had a harder time following the motivations for new players than here in Dead Reckoning. Doesn't mean the plot was better here -- just personally simpler for me to grasp.

For those who think the plot is convoluted in this movie, what do you mean by that, because I agree with @Dragoncaine that this movie's plot was pretty easy to follow. I would disagree on the Rogue Nation plot point because I understood that one pretty easily as well.

The plot can be easily followed by a 5-year old. If people have trouble with this, how do you survive a Nolan film lol I do agree that there's a bit too much of exposition, but subsequently amazing action beckons. It is not the best MI film, but probably the one with the most memorable sequences. There are plenty of awesome moments.

Hayley Atwell and Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One
Hang on for one great weekend with Hayley Atwell and Tom Cruise in 'Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One' Paramount/Everett Collection

UPDATED WEDNESDAY PM: Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One‘s opening day is looking like $16 million, which includes the $7M in previews.

Yes, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and Mission: Impossible – Fallout both posted first days in the $22M-$23M range, but those were Fridays. This is about the long play of the movie, and Tom Cruise fare is back-loaded. The reason why this pic is going for the five-day record is due to its length, at 2 hours and 43 minutes. It’s expected, especially with a current great Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 94%, to get to $90M, a franchise record opening, by Sunday. Again, it’s still early. These numbers could go up.

DR's  imdb score dropped .2 in two days. It also has very few votes. It will considerably go down. I'm not  a time traveler, but i know how imdb score works. It will only go down from here

I predict a B+ cinemscore.

Call me crazy..but just getting a hunch this thing's gonna blow up over the weekend.

A Cinemascore

Historically backloaded

Terrible opening day option for target demo (35-49) who don't prebook early

Opening true Wednesday quite a bit higher than that of previous instalment
