Yeah I said all along the poor marketing meant nothing to me because i am completely in the bag for this franchise but for a casual i can understand the eh feeling. WOM would have kicked in after opening weekend but Barbenheimer killed that from happening. They better do a 180 for Part 2.

Yeah, 2022 and 2023 showed the power of a great marketing campgain. Not the lazy 'let's get influencers to shill on TikTok' stuff Paramount used for DR1.

Also 2023 emphasises the importance of talk show hosts. Their absence has severely hindered the prospects of adult-driven movies

It's like Every Barbie Tiktok reel (?) has 1M+ likes and probably Millions more view. Hard to Beat Unless you're Mario.

Oppenheimer is adult driven, they showed up , though i doubt a director other than Nolan would drive up such interest, almost like Spielberg at his peak

Tiktok engagement has to be organic like Barbenheimer or Mario or Minions or even TGM. Collabing with influencers won't cut it.

Naah...no one can match Spielberg at his peak. Forget The Jurassic Park and the Indiana Jones films, that man made Jaws do $400m+ in the 70s, Schindler's List crossed $300m in the 90s. So many of his movies would cross $1B easy and some would cross $2B, inflation adjusted.

He's by far the biggest B.O draw in history. No actor or director comes even remotely close to 1970s-2000s Spielberg.

Nolan's the second biggest draw after Cameron rn but he did get a ton of help from Barbie tbf..like both those movies even have the same drops, showing the huge boost from double features

You can quibble about the exact number a little, but that a movie needs to make in the nieghborhood of twice it;s budget to break even on it;s theatrical run isa rule of thumb widley accepted.t. If anything, it might be a nunderstimated, quite a few people who cover the film business for living say it is closer to two and half times the budget.

You can deny facts all you want, you can't change reality; a huge precentage of ticket sales are eaten up before the studio gets it share.

Lol you can't say it's a fact right after saying it's not actually a fact

It’s impossible to say how much of a draw James Cameron is, because the last non-Avatar film he directed came out over 25 years ago.

This is going to be a bigger flop than TLM. Never thought about that in a million years.

With quick googling looks like MI7 used the same UK incentives as TLM but the BO puts TLM making a small profit whereas MI7 is likely making a small loss when considering the broadcasting rights and home entertainment revenue.

Still making more net revenue than FAST X. The good thing is the strong WoM and the potential in DR2. This first entry laid great foundations. Not going to face Barbenheimer and straight demo killer SoF. The UK that has similar taste than the US saw franchise best numbers. The biggest sour grapes for me is Korea, it didn't face the same issues and PLF loss like other markets, so the decrease there is disappointing.

not as tight as fallout, but DRp1 is the coolest MI movie, with a few changes could have easily been the best in the series

the Hayley Atwell character probably shouldn't exist as is, very big mistake to try and turn her into a love interest

pretty cool of cruise/mcquarrie to have 4 pretty women trying to kill each other

shame about best girl
