Directed by Alexandre Aja with producers including Sam Raimi, Crawl will hit theaters August 23. It stars Kaya Scodelario as a young woman who becomes trapped in a flooding house during a Category 5 hurricane and must battle against Florida’s most savage and feared predators. It will open against Lionsgate action sequel Angel Has Fallen and Sony’s Kendrick brothers drama Overcomer. Edited May 3, 2019 by movies!movies! SLAM!
Great idea for a film. Culturally relevant because of Hurricane Florence.

Reddroast
I think it might be in bad taste to release a film like this near the start of Hurricane Season
Maxmoser3
Alexandre Aja is back? Piranha 2010 and Hills Have Eyes ‘06 were really good. Mirrors could’ve been better if it wasn’t for the dumb ending. Haute Tension is ok but minus the twist it’s forgettable interesting sounding film. This sounds like a gamble for Paramount but could help them out.
baumer
High Tension is pretty frikkin tense and one of the better horror movies of the last 20 years. Hills Have Eyes is terrific as well.

SLAM!
Time for some of those August movies to move down a week or two.

In terms of sheer number of releases, August is packed and July is barren. The latter needs some smaller releases to act as counter programming to the tentpoles (Spider-Man: Far From Home, The Lion King, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood) and August needs some breathing room in general for everything.
