Other super things this weekend: Warner Bros. held paid previews with Fandango of New Line/DC’s Shazam! yesterday and made $3.3M a record among the recent swatch of early paid preview partnerships (i.e. with Atom, Amazon). Shazam! made more than Aquaman‘s $2.9M. The pic doesn’t open until April 5.

Hotel Mumbai did $86K this weekend (or $21.5K average). Solid, but likely gonna flop next weekend when it goes wide.

The U.K. opening of $3.7 million - up about 40% on Get Out’s opening, but I thought it would open a bit bigger. 

 

Get Out had nearly a 5x multiplier though, so Us could well finish in the $15 million range

Above average? 🤔  It’s outgrossed Thor Ragnarok, Both Guardians movies, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man Homecoming, both Deadpools, and BvS in a little more than 2 weeks. It’s more than just ‘above average’

I saw it Friday. Pretty good movie with an outstanding performance from Julianne Moore that should be getting more awards buzz than it will (Golden Globes is her best shot at any recognition).

They should’ve pushed back Shazam to December. Seeing how much of a joy it is from early reviews, let it take advantage of the Christmas season like Aquaman did.
