They should’ve pushed back Shazam to December. Seeing how much of a joy it is from early reviews, let it take advantage of the Christmas season like Aquaman did.

I am starting to wonder if they will release some Marvel movies over X-Mas.

Like I dont think Aquaman would have done a billion in Nov for example

Shazam higher than AQM? 70m OW confirmed?

I wouldn’t call anything in box office predicting guaranteed or confirmed (except Detective Pikachu making $1B its OW) But I do think Shazam will come way above tracking. I’m waiting for the week of tracking to see what the reviews/buzz did for its tracking. I wouldn’t be shocked to see it go up to $60-70M for the week of tracking and then it open around $70-80M.

All depends on the last minute marketing that WB will do for it.

Other super things this weekend: Warner Bros. held paid previews with Fandango of New Line/DC’s Shazam! yesterday and made $3.3M a record among the recent swatch of early paid preview partnerships (i.e. with Atom, Amazon). Shazam! made more than Aquaman‘s $2.9M. The pic doesn’t open until April 5.

That seems promising, although we can’t compare, Shazam was showing 3 times a day, Aquaman was once or twice.

I said $60M+ was easy 2 weeks ago before reviews came in...with the stellar reviews, I could see it kicking up into your opening weekend figures...part of that will depend on Dumbo's open and Us's staying power (ie - how many screens/showings can Shazam pull at each theater?)...

Above average? 🤔  It’s outgrossed Thor Ragnarok, Both Guardians movies, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man Homecoming, both Deadpools, and BvS in a little more than 2 weeks. It’s more than just ‘above average’

Just wait until it reaches the top 9 for super hero films. Slim chance for 8th (including Incredibles) but I don't see it personally.

Those empty seats were photos taken 45 minutes before the movie started and were early in the morning.  No shit they were empty.  Not nearly as many people see movies early in the morning, and if they do, they don't get there 45 minutes beforehand.

Plus, it's anecdotal evidence.  I can offer just as much evidence for you, and say that when I saw Captain Marvel, my showing was sold out.  Checking ticket sales at my theater today, it seems to be selling well throughout the day.

Yep agreed. I think 80 million is possible, 70 million for sure.

Tracking was way off on US, so I don't really care about that aspect.

Some random people posting pics from their local theater vs actual data that gets collected not only by studios but trades as well. Who should I trust....hmm
