The Futurist
Charlize, Chastain, Blunt, I would have so many ideas, in a, hum, different kind of movie ...
Klingo
Huntsman's soon-to-be-dead wife Oh yeah! She definitely get an Oscar for that. Dying will bring tears to our eyes.
grim22
They probably had an option on Hemsworth so he didn't have much choice in returning. I'm not sure what they had on Blunt and Chastain to get them to make this movie though. Every actor is looking for a franchise nowadays, it guarantees them a big paycheck every 2-3 years, so we see them taking on roles which make no sense for them. That is the main reason why YA franchises always have good starpower in the supporting roles below the tween protagonists. Also, some actors will feel burned by letting go of a few franchise roles offered and take anything that comes up just hoping it hits big. For example, Sean Connery said no to 2 iconic roles, Gandalf and Morpheus because he didn't understand the script. He realized he just left tens of millions of dollars on the table and decided to star in LXG to make it his franchise (and failed badly)
Sam
http://xposurephotoagency.tumblr.com/post/116914205670/xposure-exclusive-the-huntsman-filmset Oh, so my goddess will be playing the soon-to-be-fridged wife. Joy. She looks great though
The Futurist
I already said this, you ll always get paid better in a big studio movie, even if you re not the main star, than in Still Alice. Thor and Charlize get 10m each for this and I am sure Blunt and Chastain get enough money too.
Fancyarcher
It's one of those, "We have an IP, a few known stars, and a good director, why not make this for a lower budget". Of course, now the director is gone, and the stars are not exactly box office draws, and I don't know if anyone wanted a sequel to Snow White, or if anyone remembers that a movie called Snow White and the Huntsman actually came out 4 years ago. I'll be shocked if it even does mediocre numbers. Edited April 20, 2015 by Fancyarcher

ddddeeee
A movie with Hems, Theron, Chastain and Blunt would be worth drooling about if it were anything but this.

grim22
Sam Clafin is apparently returning: http://www.thewrap.com/sam-claflin-returns-for-the-huntsman-without-kristen-stewarts-snow-white/ I say apparently because I doubt if there is anyone who isn't a member of the Sam Clafin fan club who can recall that he was in the first movie. Sam Claflin, who played Snow White’s love interest William in “Snow White and the Huntsman,” will return for Universal’s sequel “The Huntsman,” which focuses on Chris Hemsworth’s titular character, TheWrap has learned. Claflin will reprise his role as William, Snow White’s childhood best friend whose tender kiss broke the spell in the first film.

MovieMan89
If they're smart they'll try to hide/sever the SWATH connection as much as possible in the marketing. Cuz' that ain't doin this any favors.

CJohn
Why not just do a sequel? It would make far more sense. The director is not even the same ffs.
4815162342
Why would a studio do something dumb instead of something more reasonable? Because that's what always happens.
