It's been far better received in the UK than the US.

We recognise it's deliberately old school over here. Embraces all of the traditional Bond conventions.

It's like the US reviews can't see that and just expected the same movie as the last one.

The reviews really haven't been that different.  More than half the rated UK reviews were 3/5 stars and less.  That's borderline rotten on RT and actually not as good a % rating as 2 1/2 out of 4 of many US reviews that have alternated between fresh and rotten. And not much better than the 2/4 stars (which is 5/10 vs 6/10)

As for fans predominately UK fans had it rated 7.4 on IMDB and 73% on RT after it's first week and before it opened in the U.S.

I was more referring to the major uk critics and respected writers.

Telegraph, Guardian, observer, mail, times, time out, empire, sight and sound - they were all 4 to 5 stars.

I'd say a 7.4 out of 10 is about right for it anyway.

But some of the US reviews have been pretty venomous. Can't understand it myself. The film is decent

Decent Sat increase, £5.5 for Bond. £13m second weekend mote than probable than not. Brooklyn is having a strong opening, cracking £1m and expect it to have a nice run.

What kind of Weekend drop is that and are 80 mill still locked?

I did not want a Skyfall rehash at all. Just not happy with the third act dragging on the way it did (20+ minutes too long) and with one of the most stale plot devices ever (Door #1 vs. Door #2 scenario). The superhero genre has run it into the ground.

It won't come close to Skyfall, Bond 23 had a very very long run. Spectre will be dead by the end of the month.

The double whammy of Hunger Games and The Good Dinosaur will hurt Spectre in a few weeks. The last weekend of November is pretty jam packed with Black Mass, Bridge of Spies and Carol as well as The Good Dinosaur, guessing everyone wants to avoid Star Wars.

Also, Sisters has a 9 day opening which I guess Universal is aiming to pick up some box office before it get crushed by Star Wars

Always would be in the UK James bond is critic proof will make money even if it was truly horrendous also UK reviewers always look favourably on it so get's better review's here then anywhere else.

Don't think that is the aim they should be delighted with 85 million ish and 3rd all time  is still an amazing run as good as expected after Skyfall's record breaking run.

I think that's a bit of an exaggeration to say Spectre will be dead in the UK in three weeks.

November, 2015 | By Ian Sandwell

Quote

Sony’s latest Bond mission fell just 33% (excluding previews) on its way to a stunning $19.9m (£13.2m) for $96.5m (£64m).

At some point today [Nov 9], it will overtake Jurassic World’s $96.8m (£64.2m) as the highest grossing film of 2015 to date after just 15 days in play.

That does, however, rank behind Skyfall’s second weekend of $24.3m (£16.1m) as it posted just a 20% drop, and Spectre also fell narrowly short of Skyfall’s record as the fastest film to £50m, achieving it on Thursday (Nov 5) after 11 days.

After 14 days in play though, Spectre is still tracking ahead of Skyfall which stood at $92.8m (£61.6m). Skyfall went on to post a third weekend of $15.7m (£10.45m) and that is the benchmark Spectre has to aim for if it wants to keep pace.
