Will be interesting to see how much of an impact R1 has on FB.

Either way, I think it should be comfortably over £44m by Sunday. And then school holidays start, so weekdays will be much stronger next week.

Do you have any idea how the presales for RO look?

They are surprisingly weak here and that's worrying seeing how TFA holds the record for the biggest OW ever in USD. Walk-ins should be massive, but still...

They're strong. Not as strong as TFA but that's the same everywhere. It'll open huge here.

Potter is more popular in the UK than Star Wars. Its consistency is incredible, and now FB is also going to make above £50m.

Theres no point talking about SW 77 because back then admissions were so different. In the 21st century, Potter easily trumped SW

If we want to talk about something that is even bigger than Potter, then Bond is it. And maybe the original LOTR trilogy but then again, The Hobbit films were quite disappointing here. Nothing has the staying power of Potter.

SW7 was way bigger than any potter movie. I am sure Rogue 1 will beat FB as well.

SW7 was a freak of nature. Most Potters today would adjust to at least £60m easily, with the first one and last one over £80m, probably over £90m for the first.

but can a potter sequel film open a decade later and break records?

Doubt it.

I think that is the difference between HP and SW where I think HP popularity will mostly stick to the generation who grew up on it.
