Heretic
Vue Westfield virtually sold out all day until late night for La La Land. This is incredible, it's acting like a massive event film here. It seems to be performing exceptionally well in the London area, even my two local Odeons are looking crazy busy. Doesn't look quite as busy in other parts of the country from what I've seen, but still performing very well. It'll probably catch on though. I'm fully expecting over £5m 4-day, and I'm going out on a limb and saying £30m+ will happen. It has literally everything going for it. SchumacherFTW
We definitely seem like a country that goes nuts for a musical at times.
Heretic
Definitely. We could see a repeat of Les Mis here, which had the same release date in 2013, especially since this is going to, and already has done way better than that film awards wise. WOM will be very strong. It wont open as strong (I think), but it should have a great multiplier.
SchumacherFTW
Hope it gets some IMAX screenings as well like the states

terrestrial
Quote Overseas, La La Land is singing loudly. Lionsgate insiders expect the movie to open to a stellar $6 million in the U.K. this weekend as it dances past the $50 million mark internationally. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/box-office-hidden-figures-eyes-24m-mlk-victory-silence-live-by-night-doa-964232?utm_source=twitter

Heretic
Reckon it'll do closer to $7m. Maybe even higher.

Jonwo
I'm curious to see if the other new releases like Manchester by the Sea get decent numbers, I think Manchester is in limited release so I'm not expecting huge numbers

For what I needed last night, Huntingdon fit the bill. I usually do Stevenage though as the number of screens makes it easier, if it's after work I'll go in Huntingdon as I work there. I only use Haverhill for unlimited screenings, it's so tiny I can't get a good run going there.

Heretic
Wow, huge opening! Will have a very long and prosperous run. Can definitely see £30m as a distinct possibility, with the potential for more.
wildphantom
Fantastic that La La Land has broken out. Amazing movie. Equally great is Manchester by the Sea, which I gather has opened with around $900k? It'll be a slow burner that one.
