DAR Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 I think Christopher Nolan might be a fan of this film considering he cast Ledger and Joseph Gordon Levitt in his films. @MrPink
baumer Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 I liked 10 Things and the Talented Mr. Ripley. Didn't make my list though. 1

An adaptation of The Taming Of The Shrew, this movie instantly catapulted Heath Ledger into the mainstream and has a very talented young cast, each of whom went on to bigger things and one of whom is a cult leader in Hollywood now. It also has the iconic Heath Ledger singing scene Oh come on! This is a fucking top 10 movie! Bloody philistines. 1 1

grim22 Posted August 3, 2019 Author Posted August 3, 2019 #16 Spoiler Eyes Wide Shut #1 on 1 list Top 5 on 8 lists Appears on 26 lists At the height of his starpower, Tom Cruise took an almost 2 year break to star in this movie because he wanted to work with Kubrick. The movie is, at its heart, a movie about a marriage and starred the then real life married couple Cruise and Kidman and in many ways mirrored their actual marriage (maybe minus the sex cults?) Kubrick passed away before the movie was released, which is probably why WB was able to edit it down to get an R rating instead of the NC-17 it was filmed as. 13 1
baumer Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 I think the sex cults are really part of Hollywood and this was Kubrick exposing them, just like he exposed the fake moon landing in The Shining. 1

Oh come on B, he was hired to fake it, but you know he forced them to film on location for authenticity. 1

grim22 Posted August 3, 2019 Author Posted August 3, 2019 #15 Spoiler Election #1 on 0 lists Top 5 on 9 lists Appears on 36 lists Reese Witherspoon's most iconic character (yes, even more than Elle Woods). Tracy Flick is that one student everyone hated in class for being so damn good at everything. This movie plays really well even now as it can be interpreted in a new light compared to 1999. If you haven't seen it yet, I would recommend it a lot. 15
