1966. Today it isn't ours or the film's problem what distribution problems it had half a century ago.

Right, but it's wild to have it be a 1966 release when, aside from a single screening (!) in '66, literally no one in the world could see it until 1969.

(Just to be clear, I agree with you, especially after this long period of time, but it's still crazy)

I liked Heathers a lot.  I think it's in the middle of the pack for me.

Btw forgot about this, with all the talk about release dates.

After this movie, I fell in love with Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. I began watching all of Christian Slater's movies and that was when I discovered 2 movies which will make my top 10 of all time. True Romance and Pump Up The Volume.

Pump up the Volume is one of my faves!  The script is so good.  And Slater is excellent.

@Happy Harry Hardon

You hear about some kid who did something stupid, something desperate; what possessed him? How could he do such a terrible thing? Well, it's really quite simple, actually. Consider the life of a teenager - you have parents, teachers telling you what to do, you have movies, magazines and TV telling you what to do, but you know what you have to do. Your job, your purpose is to get accepted, get a cute girlfriend, think up something great to do with the rest of your life. What if you're confused and can't imagine a career? What if you're funny looking and can't get a girlfriend? You see, no-one wants to hear it. But the terrible secret is that being young is sometimes less fun than being dead.

@Happy Harry Hardon

and this is probably my favourite moment of his:

We're all worried, we're all in pain. That just comes with having eyes and having ears. But just remember one thing - it can't get any worse, it can only get better. High school is the bottom, being a teenager sucks, but that's the point, surviving it is the whole point. Quitting is not going to make you stronger, living will. So just hang on and hang in there.

I have decided I am going to rewatch this again tonight, that's how much I love it. Just remembering this scenes and my two favorite rebels.

It's a movie that speaks to all of us and the themes are just as relevant now as they were when the film came out.  I was 18 when it came out and my God did it hit me hard.  I could relate to the characters implicitly.  And it's not that I was a nerd or had trouble getting  girlfriend, but we all have worries and fears and trepidations.  Figuring out what you are supposed to do with your life is scary.

I even feel this way now and have been feeling it for the past 5 years. Can't decide whether or not I should please my family members and just pursue something they see for me, everyone around me is obsessed with money and I don't care about it more than just paying my bills.

I use to watch it on local netflix like monthly subscription service, but they took it out, so I went to the dark side of the force and got myself a good 1080p.

i'm having a hard time finding an emotional connection with Star Trek 5.

anyone feel similar things with the big budget movies produced from 1989?

Star Trek 5 is a really bad movie.  There are others that are better though the only big budget blockbusters I liked that year were Batman and  Indy 3 - with the later being great.

If you want an emotional connection that isn't a Romance or Rom Com - I'd suggest  trying Dead Poet Society, Field of Dreams,  Parenthood, Born On The 4th of July, Dead Calm, Do The Right Thing, Glory
