I ended up seeing 31 films from 1989. Lethal Weapon 2, Field Of Dreams, Major League, and Always were bad, so here are the other 27 ranked:

1 Do The Right Thing
2 The Killer
3 Dead Poets Society
4 The Abyss
5 Indiana Jones 3
6 Heathers
7 Back To The Future 2
8 Glory
9 The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover
10 UHF
11 Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
12 The 'Burbs
13 Crimes And Misdemeanours
14 Licence To Kill
15 Batman
16 The Little Mermaid
17 Sex, Lies, And Videotape
18 My Left Foot
19 All Dogs Go To Heaven
20 Pet Sematary
21 The Gods Must Be Crazy 2
22 Kiki's Delivery Service
23 Steel Magnolias
24 Parenthood
25 Driving Miss Daisy
26 Black Rain
27 When Harry Met Sally

Respect for the UHF inclusion. It’s not on my list but it’s underappreciated.

Do the Right Thing is tanking right now.  it's barely looking to make the top ten with this list.  The pizza joint setting is too familiar now with movies. If feels plucked right out of time.   The laughs are good 30 minutes in, but they can be easy to make.  If it gets an A, then it is going to have to rank above License to Kill, Star Trek, and Lethal Weapon.

1 - Halloween

2 - Nightmare on Elm Street

3 - Friday the 13th

4 - The Abyss

5 - Batman

6 - Indiana Jones

7 - License to Kill

(8 - Star Trek 5)

(9 - Lethal Weapon 2)

Do the Right Thing

Roger and Me

10 - Akira

11 - Dead Poet's Society

12 - Leviathan

13 - Glory

976-EVIL

Phantom of the Opera

14 - Pet Semetary

(16 - The Fly 2)

15 - Christmas Vacation

17 - Communion

18 - Casualties of War

19 - Always

(20 - Red Scorpion)

21 - Parenthood

22 - Ghostbusters 2

23 - The Punisher

Do the Right Thing tanked with a B  .  It is too contained, like Halloween 78.

Redo your lists!!!

right now got Deepstar Six and Born on the Fourth of July on demand for #29 and #30.  Field of Dreams will tie with The Punisher at the bottom of the list with a C-

will finish these around 4am, then i'll catch consecutive movies to burn more time and bump some movies out of the top 30

Denzel fans of the forum are doing themselves a disservice if they don't watch THE MIGHTY QUINN.

I get to it in 8 hours if Baumer will take the late submission for the ranking boost.

is Akira going on them too or what?  @baumer

what about 976-EVIL directed by Robert Englund?  It's IMDB is 1988 for the foreign release thing, and I got it there on the list somewhere for points.  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094597/

Earth Girls are Easy w/ Jeff Golblum is 1988 too and i'm skipping it if they are

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097257/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1

*same w/ Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Hey guys I have been without internet most of the weekend. I'm just getting back from weekend at my friend's cottage. I'm going to extend the deadline until tonight when I get home from dinner. That should be around 10 p.m. eastern time. So if anybody has any late additions or wants to make any changes go ahead and do it you have until around 10 p.m. Eastern standard time tonight.

Managed to watch another film (Crimes and Misdemeanors) and change my list a bit (I actually didn't realise I put 4th of July above Do the Right Thing when I first wrote this list eventhough I love the latter more than the former so I switched those around) within this time:

1. Do the Right Thing 10/10
2. Crimes and Misdemeanors 10/10

3. Born on the 4th of July 10/10

4. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade 9/10

Wow it's already 27 August. Oops. Forgot to send my list.

As long as Indiana Jones wins, I don't mind. (And, odds are in its favour of doing that anyway)

If it doesn't win, I will feel ashamed of not sending the list.
