This will get painfully close to 400 million, but I don't think it will be close enough for Sony to push it there, unless they decide on a Labour Day expansion, as those generally add a little cash for the 2-3 week period after labour day as well...

No reason Sony wouldn't do the expansion then.

They've done far more extreme things to hit a milestone (though those $100 & $200 yield a monetary return in ancillaries)

Looks like it’s going to fall about 2/3rd in SK. Wouldn’t be surprised with a 70-50% fall domestically and in the rest of the world.

In fact it looks like it came out 2 weekend ago in the UK and will have a 60%ish fall from the first one. The fact that this got greenlit at this budget just baffles me, to be honest.

The fact it would still turn a profit for Sony if that 50% drop happen and a giant world ads at a reasonable pricing for Rovio, make it really not baffling it got green light, the first movie did seem to make a shift back to profitability for Rovio

The Kitchen giant jump will probably continue to build a narrative that a giant first tuesday jump for a movie is probably correlated with bad result (i.e. movie not attractive enough for people to pay full price)....

The Art of Racing in the Rain also is part...it's only 1% less on the jump:)...

Part of me thinks theaters should run an experiment over Labor Day weekend this year...

Since theaters will be stocked with poor performing films...and nothing is opening wide except Don't Let Go...why not make the whole weekend "cheap Tuesday"...see if the lure of $5 tickets to any seat at any show can bring a blow out to the end of summer...bring back Toys 4, Spidey, and Aladdin for expansions and give everything partial screens (if you're a small to midsize) and just see if you have a price point to lure folks in for anything...

It would be like the $5 Booksmart experiment, but on a little grander scale...rather than a single movie offered only at a single time at few theaters, this could be a giant "what the market will pay" experiment for either old movies (the 3 re-expansions) or non-blockbuster ones...

Any official confirmation that ts4 made a billion?

As of last weekend it was at 990.2mn..

It made 1.57mn dom for 2 days and 6mn in 3 days in Japan

when that type of milestone happen, Deadline makes an article mentioning it, whatever day of the week that happens. And I don't see any yet, so I presume it's still below the 1B.
