Lionsgate has been on life support lately. Right now, it really only has John Wick.

They're supposed to be appearing at CinemaCon the last week of the month. Will be interesting to see what their panel will be like with no movies coming out this summer to promote.

Is anyone else getting a feeling that The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is gonna tank hard? Lionsgate seems to be in shambles these days (multiple movies have either been pushed back well into the future or sold to streaming, with their next release not coming out until September) and it seems like no one's talking about it despite the good reviews.

It's been having a bunch of advance screenings that are going to cut decent money out of the gross like ITH last summer.

At least that movie was being marketed heavily. This feels like it's going to come and go with very little fanfare (most likely due to the aforementioned Lionsgate money woes).

Massive Talent has awful sales here. Concerning since it should appeal to Cage fans

The title also sucks and Lionsgate is too low rent

Bad timing too. Feels like Everything Everywhere and The Northman have taken away all the attention from the Internet-friendly crowd that might've been all over it otherwise.

I saw a Bus ad for that thing and couldn’t believe it. Thought it was meant to be another direct to VOD film for Cage.

As a little compensation for yesterday I report some presale numbers today:

Father Stu had today at 10am EST for today 67 sold tickets in 6 theaters. Up more than 100% from the number it had on Wednesday but still below my expectations. But in this genre the presales are always very muted so that number probably isn't very telling anyway.

The Northman did well. It had today for next Friday 234 sold tickets. Up 55% since Tuesday.

Comps: The Last Duel (4.8M OW) had on Monday of its release week 46 sold tickets

and The Green Knight (6.8M OW) had also on Monday of its release week 159 sold tickets.

Isn't Box Office pro still predicting it over The Northman with 8-13m over 5-10m?

That Cage nonsense is gonna open with 5M at best. Northman should bomb with 8M or so. Maybe Bad Guys can pull a decent 20M opening?

80M $4 ticket codes will be floating around...I'm not using mine, I don't think...but the joy of those $4 tickets is you'll have til Sunday of OW to decide...
