TDKR has a big asterisk on it, the night shows collapsed as news of the massacre spread

Yes surely but TDK was like 28% in 2008, TDKR may be around 35-40% on a normal day.

Looking at TDK weekend numbers,

SAT dropped roughly 2.3% from true FRI. If TDKR was to do same assuming by SAT things were bit normal, true FRI would have been $46M approx, against $45M it did.

A quick heads up for folks tracking Batman. Theaters with IMAX screens are having a "Fan First" 7 PM showing on Tuesday March 1st. It's weird to think over the next few weeks Nile, Dog, and Bat all have early screenings a couple days before Thursday previews. Nothing wrong with that of course, but it is weird.

Death on the Nile's early Dolby Cinema screenings on Wednesday have actually sold a nice amount of tickets from where I've been looking around Florida. Thinking it should see an opening similar to West Side Story at the very least (a minor win given how bleak it's been for the older-skewing drama throughout the pandemic era).

Unless Uncharted gets a fresh tomato, it's certainly joining the long, loooong list of non-MCU Tom Holland failed franchise starters.

His recent statement about playing Spider-Man forever makes sense in this context. It's literally all he has. He likely got laid because of it too.

What other franchise starters has he had? I looked at his IMDb and it’s all stand alone films (mainly dramas)

One (Chaos Walking) qualifies as “long, loooong list” now? Because I cannot find any other movie where he is the lead which was supposed to be a franchise.

Happy ‘The Batman’ opening sales week! Our next blockbuster is almost upon us. Below is the relevant 24HR finals I could find in the old tracking thread, so we can easily comp TB against NWH numbers. Obviously there are slight differences (like days out) but I’m expecting Batman to do 25-35% of NWH 24HR numbers….

@Inceptionzq Megaplex NWH - 24HRS

@Inceptionzq Alamo Drafthouse NWH 24HRS

@TalismanRing NYC Regal NWH - 24HRS

@keysersoze123 MTC2 NWH - Rough 24HRS

@Eric Knoxville Philadelphia NWH Rough 24HRS

@Porthos Sacto NWH - 24HRS

@charlie Jatinder Harkins NWH - 24HRS

I didn't know Cherry was supposed to launch a franchise.

Reviews for Death on the Nile are looking to be just as tepid as (if not more so than) the previous movie which probably won't help.

Armie Hammer by himself would have tanked the movie even if it was critically acclaimed. The lukewarm reviews are just the icing on the cake. Hitting even a double digit weekend is going to be nigh impossible IMO.

I doubt anyone cares about the Hammer scandal. The days of celebrity scandals being the talk of the town and having a major influence are largely in the past.

But even in normal times this would've seen a big drop-off regardless. The book is less-known, the cast isn't as impressive, and the previous movie was hardly beloved to begin with. Adaptations of adult-driven mystery novels seem prone to big decreases anyway: see how each Robert Langdon feature saw a big drop with each installment and the total collapse between the Sony Lisbeth Salander movies.
