Canada is not preview heavy. No where domestic I track friday is that much higher than previews. You have seen my numbers above.

Because of life stuff I havent been able to get a lot of numbers for LIttle Mermaid, but it has not been a big preview one up here. Perhaps it becomes more of a walkup or WOM movie I dont know, have to see on that one.

Guys, Eric is only human, with other things going on other than tracking box office sales  Let's just be grateful that they spend as much time as they do providing us with numbers.

Not certain if Marvel movie comps would be comparable here or if Spideyverse is kind of its own thing?

I would use a mix. Maybe Guardians if you have that for a lower end and a less fan heavy movie for a higher end.

The Boogeyman had today for Thursday, June 1 (9 days left) 39 sold tickets with showtimes in 6 theaters.
Comps: Beast had with 10 days left 53 sold tickets,
Barbrian had with 9 days left 63,
The Invitation had on Monday of the release week 96,
Prey for the Devil had also on Monday of the release week 115
and M3gan had with 17 days left 94 sold tickets.

And for Friday, June 2 (10 days left) it had 34 sold tickets (again in 6 theaters).
Comps: Beast had with 11 days left 26 sold tickets,
Barbarian had with 10 days left 8,
The Invitation had on Monday of the release week 87,
Prey for the Devil had also on Monday of the release week 149
and M3gan had with 18 days left 73 sold tickets.

I don't worry because especially the ticket sales of horror films can explode but for the moment that's way lower than what I expected.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny had today at noon (in Germany) 812 sold tickets for Thursday, June 29.
Comps: Dune had also after ca. 24 hrs 1.038 sold tickets (Dune had very good presales due to the IMAX shows I think which makes other movies look worse than it is).
Uncharted had with 17 days left 397 sold tickets.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife had on Monday of the release week 936 sold tickets,
TLC on the same day 306
and Death on the Nile had also on Monday of the release week 212 sold tickets.

And for Friday, July 1, Indy 5 had 342 sold tickets.
Comps: Dune had after 24 hrs 1.426 sold tickets.
Uncharted had with 18 days left 233 sold tickets.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife had on Monday of the release week 514 sold tickets,
TLC on the same day 196
and Death on the Nile had also on Monday of the release week 198 sold tickets.
And finally a comp that isn't useful yet but maybe later: JW:D had with 9 days left 2.460 sold tickets.

Overall an ok but not stellar first day in my theaters.

I don't have comps this far out, but Hypnotic sold 82 tickets as of T-1 so at least Boogeyman is far ahead of that

*gets done setting up sheets for The Flash*

Huh.

Okay.

Look.

Sales started a hell of a lot later in the day locally than they sometimes do (around 9:30am local time, I think).  And I went back and did a super quick re-sample and am already seeing growth.  And DC is notoriously soft in Sacto compared to Marvel.

Plus there isn't a Fan Event to goose sales here like there will be in other major markets (yes, I checked again just now)

But.

The Flash        1:30pm:                          394/22203 [1.77% sold]

The Batman  12:45pm:                          1693/32197 [5.26% sold] [475 sold two days prior]

GOTG3          12:40pm:                          1317/29568 [4.45% sold]

(don't bother asking for other MCU films at similar set up times)

Now it's already grown about 50 tickets or so in the last hour.  And, like I said, there is no "fan first" event locally so that The Batman comp is somewhat misleading.  Mind, even if I subtract every last seat sold from those early showings, The Batman still had sold 755 tickets at roughly the same time, so that rationale only goes so far.  And it really did start later in the day than The Batman did (after checking looks like Bats started at 7:30am local time, more or less).

But will admit I was expecting a bit stronger of a start.  Just have to see where it actually winds up for at the end of Day 1.

Tracks with what I'm seeing at MiniTC 1, with early shows it's less than half of Guardians after the same number of hours of sales. And there is an early show in this chain that has singlehandedly contributed over a third of sales.
