you can tell this is gonna be a nasty one because the trailer coulda led with any cronenberg movie and chose "from the director of crash". can't wait.

I like to imagine they put it there to confuse and trick all the people who are fans of the other Crash. What I'd give to see their reactions lmao

June 3rd limited in NY/LA. June 10th wide

Terrible rollout. Just go wide June 3rd. This isn't a WOM film ala Everything everywhere. It's a Cronenberg body horror. And June 10th, Jurassic World will demolish it in screens. And then it'll leave theaters by June 17th with Lightyear. Will be on VOD June 24th when Elvis and Black Phone open.

If they desperately wanted a limited opening that would get headlines for strong PTA, go limited week before June 3rd then wide 3rd.

Was thinking the same thing. They probably would've obtained more screens than expected going wide on June 3, since I'm sure there's plenty of theaters that would like new content that week with nothing else going wide. Gonna be much harder to find space opposite JWD, even if the demographics differ.

Cronenberg took the stage to present the trailer alongside his Crimes producer Robert Lantos. The filmmaker said it was his first time in Vegas and he thanked Neon for introducing him to Caesars Palace as “it seems an appropriate place to launch our attack on the world with Crimes of the Future on June 3. He explained that he wrote the script more than 20 years ago. He put it away for years until Lantos asked him if he’d read it recently. “I’m sure it’s irrelevant now,” Cronenberg recalled telling the producer with whom he had worked on previous films like Crash. “He said it’s more relevant now than ever.”

The Crimes of the Future trailer is not yet available for the public as it will officially roll out next week ahead of its May world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Today’s footage followed an earlier teaser released last week that featured images of body horror that fans of the Canadian director of The Fly, Eastern Promises and Dead Ringers have seen in past works. Crimes is said to be an evolution of Cronenberg’s work that has references to key moments and and scenes from other films.
