Secret Life of Pets 2 is quite possibly the worst theatrical animated sequel ever made.

This was released into cinemas in the UK

Didn't this come out in theaters in the US too? I remember seeing trailers for it. Same with The Jungle Book 2. Was odd in that age of Disney making DTV sequels to all their classics that those two went to theaters for whatever reason.

Haven’t we had like 7 Ice Age movies?   Not to mention a Nut Job 2?

The fact that movie Netflix movie posters look like they could be promotional materials for anything other than a movie really speaks to that “Netflix Films Dont Exist” mentality.

Is this a movie poster or an ad for an online casino? Or vodka? Or perfume? Or Magnum Ice Cream?

I mean... if you take the text off the poster, you can say that about any film that doesn't use the generic "faces" poster design.

Is this a movie poster or an ad for a jacket brand?

And in the US. I think I actually saw this in theaters, but it could have also been a Blockbuster rental and my brain just combined the two. Jungle Book 2 was also released to theaters. IIRC, the people working at Disney Feature Animation were really not happy these direct-to-video sequels were on the big screen, especially since they were fresh off Atlantis and Treasure Planet bombing.

I can stomach the Ice Age sequels because they at least have Scrat (except for Buck Wild. but that's a direct-to-streaming title). Nut Job 2 was always going to be bad.

Outside of Harrison Ford and a few of his lines, Secret Life of Pets 2 has no plot, no laughs, no charm. The first film was derivative but there was some spirit to it.

Both Jungle Book 2 and Return to Neverland made more than Treasure Planet globally.

The fact even Disney+ have those two films listed with the direct to dvd stuff pretty much sums up the lasting legacy of that era. Like how did they allow things to get his bad?
