Douban isn't very trustworthy, it's more of a movie fan platform with no verification. Reviews and score from Maoyan/Taopiaopiao etc are more meaningful for box office prediction.

Douban is better. Normally, hard to find above 8. Ratings are always verified and spamming are always removed.

 

Maoyan/Taopiaopiao ratings are fanbase.. easy to film your favourite film at 9-9.5. above all you can't track negative buzz using these two platforms. 

 

Example DC3 had 8.8 score at Maoyan but 5.3

 

Moreover, whenever Maoyan participate in distribution they overhyped the film, keep the score even if the film is just average

Taopiaopiao score: 9.2

Maoyan score: 9.3, all decent score.

Maoyan live prediction for first day now down from 36 mil to 27 mil. The final first day might be below 24 mil at this point.

It probably won't cross 200M in China.

It's crashing and burning there, probably under $20M OD. Not even sure if it'll go beyond $125M (so it can outgross TFA there).

 

Now, if the movie can get to $2B WW, it'll be a huge accomplishment (meaning that WW-C-R is actually bigger than in the case of NWH or IW).

Covid or no covid...film has flopped spectacularly in China. I think the Chinese will come in massive numbers for wandering earth 2. Just wait and watch.

Yikes. Oh well.

 

If situation stabilizes it might have some decent spread out business (a la JW being leggier than it should be despite subpar WOM) but I'm not hopeful on that either. I assume nothing major will want to come out now so it should be somewhat free until Wandering Earth arrives to take everything.

This movie has a combo 8.4/9.2/9.3 on Douban/Tiapaopao/Maoyan that is more than enough to indicate it has GREAT WOM in China. That combo is even better than Endgame.

The reason why the number is slowing down is due to external factors (Covid outbreak situation is getting worse) rather than the movie itself.

As long as the gov doesn't close movie industry and shut down all cinema in the country and as long as they still let the movie played in cinema in months,, it will have good legs

I didn't say this film has subpar WOM if that's what you mean, that comment was referred to JWD which was able to leg out a bunch because of the reopenings and whatnot. I did say it could leg out but situation just doesn't feel like something you can just force people out of with positive WOM to me.
