PS - I will say, looking at my theater, don't expect a great Tuesday.  It was pretty chill, and no one was walking up.  You pretty much prebought tickets if you were going to the movies this afternoon, and nothing was a sellout or almost sellout.

Not me. My theater is 80% full this evening

Is there finally impact?

I just stumbled on this on my Twitter timeline. People are now doling out Avatar fancams. Even some of the Quote Tweets on this are people simping for Jake Sully (even I'm kinda like "damn he fine" after seeing this). Daddy Cameron finally won.

PS - I have to alter my #1 anticipated movie of the year to Spider-Verse.  When we got the preview today, youngest son instantly says "That's my June movie" (he gets to pick 1/2 of our monthly movies as his Xmas present, since he, ummm, had more expensive presents this year, and mom wanted to actually have a say next year b/c I would like to see MI7:) and the other 3 kids shook their heads yes, so I'm in for 6 tickets for that no matter how good or bad it is.

As a 14 year-old when the first movie came out I thought Jake Sully was super hot and could never understand why more people didn't. Glad folks are finally seeing the light.

A decent day for A2, finally took a tiny bit again from the deficit. We'll see if the trend continues throughout the week. RO saw a 24% Monday increase followed by a 30% Tuesday drop. A2 increased only 11%, so expecting a much better hold.

I agree but when it comes to box office, quality is imo secondary compared to accessibility, i. e. how good a movie is at crowdpleasing. Prisoner of Azkaban is way darker and more serious than the first two movies, so the decrease makes sense; Goblet of Fire - while in many ways even darker than Prisoner - is also a fantasy epic full of crowedpleasing moments that was more "exciting" than Prisoner in a sense.

At least thats how i see it.

that’s fair. It was the transitional one that paved the way for the style of David Yates’s remaining films.

A bit like Batman Begins did.

it definitely wasn’t the bring all-the-family affair that the first two Potters were as films and the way they were marketed.

So apparently, the international total as of Sunday was underestimated as well.

$609.7 M (total as of Sunday, up from $601.7 M)

$052.2 M (Monday)

$661.9 M (total as of Monday, 2nd biggest for 2022)

top international markets (through Monday)

1 / $104.5 M / China

2 / $060.5 M / France

3 / $055.4 M / South Korea

4 / $041.5 M / Germany

5 / $039.2 M / India

additional gross (Tuesday)

$4.2 M for a $108.7 M total / China*

$2.8 M for a $058.2 M total / South Korea

*Ticketing service Maoyan has increased its projections again, now seeing a $170 M final, up from $160 M the other day.

The movie will also be the 6th fastest to reach $1 B worldwide at 14 days. I'm using 14 days here since it opened in some markets on December 14.
