1. Avatar is doing just fine. If you've seen the movie, you know the legs would be there. The hyperbole and hand-wringing over the last week has been insufferable.

2. I look forward to being the only person in the theater for Babylon tomorrow.

3. Maybe it's because I'm in my mid-30's with no kids but are we shocked a Puss in Boots movie didn't do well in 2022? I still can't believe they actually made one. I remember no one really caring about the last one ten years ago!

Deadline Hollywood

All titles today at the Christmas box office look to make $39.3M, +77% of Christmas Eve’s downer $22.2M (which was off 26% from Friday). Christmas day looks to be off 32% from the holiday a year ago when Spider-Man: No Way Home was on the marquee, Omicron raged, and there were better weather conditions.

Less than half of the 2009 Avatar/Sherlock/Alvin Christmas Day  ($86.5M), probably below 1/3 of admissions

“Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” a sequel set in the “Shrek” universe, landed in second place with $11.3 million from 4,099 locations over the weekend and an estimated $17.7 million through Monday. Since the film opened on Wednesday, those ticket sales would bring its domestic total to $24.6 million. The film has generated $32.5 million internationally and $57.2 million worldwide. Without any competition from family films until “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” opens in April 2023, the second “Puss in Boots” hopes to stay strong into the new year.

From Deadline

Wait, REALLY? And Illumination still won't push it forward to MAR10? They must have a great promo schedule in conjunction with the opening of Super Mario World Hollywood.

Margot robbie is perfect for the  barbie role and the movie is gonna smash but with no no offence she's "just a sharon stone/kim basinger", she just doesn't work in anything expect that kind of role. I hope after amsterdam/babylon fiasco she won't be cast in almost every important award contender movie like the meryl streep/nicole kidman of her generation they're trying to sell us, because i mean she just doesn't have it and it's getting annoying.

Hollywood Reporter is projecting a $53K 4-day from 8 theaters for Women Talking ($6,664 PTA). Even with the dismal weather weakening sales at some of the locations it's playing at, this will be lucky to reach She Said's already low total.
