THE SUPER MARIO BROS MOVIE WEEKEND THREAD

Grrrrr why does this weekend thread have to turn into a barbie thread. That movie has enough threads/clubs to discuss. Its nothing to do with Mario as well.

Anyway let me be cautious. Mario at this point is driven a lot by walkups. This 59m estimate was provided really early. While its possible to go higher, it can go lower as well. I would not call this a conservative projection. hopefully @charlie Jatinder or he who must not be named will provide an estimate in the evening hours which would be closer to actual. I wonder if @RthMav could come in for this. It has been ages since he was last seen.

Yeah I just tried to cool down another forum with that 59M number.

You still think >55M looks good? Charlie said 53M earlier today>

no one said it’s doing mario numbers. and what don’t people understand about having a movie for 18-45 year old women? they will bring their boyfriends and husbands. this is so obviously a male dominated site lmao

There will be alot of bargaining going on that weekend. :hahaha:

"Okay we can watch Barbie but you gotta see Oppenheimer next weekend".

Not sure. Possible but not probable.

Man, that would be such a bummer. Of course it's still an OUTSTADING result, but after a 59M prediction by Deadline it would be a shame...

So, on average across markets I'm tracking, Mario SO FAR today (3:45 PST), counting ONLY shows that have already started (not looking at evening pre-sales) is at 138% of Wednesday's TOTAL GROSS.

Dont take it as certainity. Just not seeing it based on trend but as I said its driven by walkups and have to see where things are late today. I am sure both Empire/Charlie will provide updates in the evening.

Empire City did say like 1hr ago that he thinks the floor is 215M+ so he must be pretty confident in the numbers he is seeing. Let's wait then...

Well he's probably got better Sat/Sun projections than Deadline.  If it really did $59M I'd be confident in like $220M, but DL is only at $195M.

Hopefully this makes Universal reconsider putting FNAF day-and-date streaming. It’s not getting anywhere near Mario numbers even with an exclusive theatrical run, but it could easily do Megan numbers.

Also as a Gen-Z myself, and probably the forum’s resident tiktoker, Barbie is going to be massive. It’s this year’s Rise of Gru. Wont be AS big as that film, but a 75/230 run wouldn’t surprise me.

I think FNAF is in for an 80% second weekend drop, but we’ll see. Can’t see it going as high as M3GAN.

That is a no brainer. If 59M or anything close to it is real, then there is no way it fails to do 200M.

If you're an adult and are looking for a good movie to watch while the kiddos watch Mario, might I recommend Showing Up?

i really want to see this, it looks great but as usual another A24 movie that's undated in the UK. will probably get quietly released in august and i won't even notice.
