ZeroHour
16 minutes ago, Reddroast said: In defense of Sony their streaming strategy is smart. Sell the films for to various services. Get money. Then target various niches by buying streaming services within them Crunchyroll and FUNimation before it (r.i.p.) have proven this method successful It's smart...as long as there are enough streamers in the market place interested in their content to keep prices high. Sony looks good when they're the only ones doing it, but if Paramount and WB abandoned their streaming services and adopted Sony's "arms dealer" strategy, companies like Netflix would have more options and more room to squeeze a Sony. Even Netflix only needs so much content and in their case produces a lot of it themselves. There's probably already some of that occurring since Netflix has deals with WB and Universal for second window on their films. Sony's only advantage right now is they're one of the few companies that will sell Netflix first window. Closer to topic, one of the big questions right now is what the strategy for Disney+ originals even is. They've pulled way back and are mostly relying on new content that goes to linear first and their library. Outside the occasional big swing like Percy Jackson, will Disney+ even do much outside of their quarterly Star Wars/Marvel show?

Especially with The Bear around the corner.

Also great use of marketing about the title changes whether those were on purpose or not Edited May 14 by thajdikt 1
SpiderByte
So clearly they've split up the branding: Marvel Studios for the movies, Marvel Television for the live action shows, and Marvel Animation for the animated shows. Hades
No Marvel Animation news...
SpiderByte
They didn't have animation at either of the last two upfronts either. Though also keep in mind they always bring the big guns for advertisers so Disney usually doesn't anyways. But yeah we're probably not getting news on the animated front till SDCC

SpiderByte
This does also indicate to me when Iger talks about scaling the shows back he isn't including the animated stuff. Edited May 14 by SpiderByte
