It's amazing that Scrubs Season 9 decided to just not hire likable leads.

Look, I’m not defending Scrubs season 9 from a writing standpoint or directing standpoint. In both areas, it was a weak season after JD departed.

But Eliza Coupe and Kid Franco were great additions. The main new female lead (can’t remember her name) did well, it’s just her character was written overly wide-eyed. And diet-Jason Sudakis as the last new scrub was entertaining, had a good arc. liked him with Coupe.

Again, not defending the overall quality of “Med School”, and would welcome a “revival” season in a heartbeat.

Anyways, I’ve said it here before and will say it again, Secret Invasion should have been saved for Captain Marvel 2.

The reasons behind this level of audience erosion will likely be dissected for as long as it's in theaters (which will be at least until Christmas, you know the marketplace is going to dry up over the next month when the 20th anniversary of Love Actually is going to be one of the biggest releases of early December), but I will continue stand by the notion that nearly 5 years was just too long to make a sequel (the timeframe to strike while the iron is hot is only growing smaller these days), and the sequel focusing around two other characters from the D+ shows (giving it a "do your homework" component it arguably would've been better off without) as its big team-up, ultimately proved to be the downfall behind this.

This will go down as the project where everyone realized the perception vs. the reality of the MCU's power over pop culture: for all the "killing cinema" nonsensical handwringing over it, the level of audience devotion to the entire franchise has clearly been taken for granted.

Highest grossing sequels post-COVID DOM

1) NWH -- 2.5 years after FFH

2) Top Gun -- 36 years after OG

3) Avatar 2 -- 13 years

4) Wakanda Forever -- 4.5 years

5) MoM -- 5.5 years

6) Spider-Verse 2 -- 4.5 years

7) Dominion -- 4 years

😎 Rise Of Gru -- 7 years

The Marvels 4.5 years is not out of the ordinary. If anything, it is less than usual.

I agree.

People could say too much time passed between Captain Marvel and The Marvels, but that shouldn't affect the movie so much.

In fact, if Captain Marvel was a popular character, the absence of the character for years should increase the hype for her return on The Marvels.

That's what happens when beloved characters in a franchise return after being absent for a while.

There's something weirdly poetic about Rise of Gru having sunglasses next to it lol

The thing with the MCU used to be that each movie would build on the previous one, so even though Thor had 4 years between movies or Doctor Strange had 7 years, it wouldn't feel that long because they would appear in other movies to advance their story. Now it feels like everyone disappears for a while and is a completely different character when they show up again.

I know, I know I've let you down
I've been a fool to myself
I thought that I could live for no one else
But now, through all the hurt and pain
It's time for me to respect
The ones you love mean more than anything

So, with sadness in my heart
Feel the best thing I could do
Is end it all and leave forever
What's done is done, it feels so bad
What once was happy now is sad
I'll never love again
My world is ending

I wish that I could turn back time
'Cause now the guilt is all mine
Can't live without the trust from those you love
I know we can't forget the past
You can't forget love and pride
Because of that, it's killing me inside

It all returns to nothing
It all comes tumbling down
Tumbling down, tumbling down
It all returns to nothing
I just keep letting me down
Letting me down, letting me down

In my heart of hearts
I know that I could never love again
I've lost everything, everything
Everything that matters to me matters in this world

I wish that I could turn back time
'Cause now the guilt is all mine
Can't live without the trust from those you love
I know we can't forget the past
You can't forget love and pride
Because of that, it's killing me inside

It all returns to nothing
It just keeps tumbling down
Tumbling down, tumbling down
It all returns to nothing
I just keep letting me down
Letting me down, letting me down

It all returns to nothing
It just keeps tumbling down
Tumbling down, tumbling down
It all returns to nothing
I just keep letting me down
Letting me down, letting me down

Ah, ah, ah, ah
Tumbling down
Tumbling down
Tumbling down
Ah, ah, ah, ah
Letting me down
Letting me down
Letting me down
Ah, ah, ah, ah
Tumbling down
Tumbling down
Tumbling down

The Marvels was a poorly made, disjointed mess with 3 leads that the audience doesn't seem to be connecting with.

It felt twice as a long as it was, and my audience biggest reaction was to the post credit scene.

It's not a good film, and MCU has done a very poor job with Captain Marvel as a character. It's all tell, and no show, and should be the opposite.

I think ultimately the TV shows were a massive mistake and has fractured the audience. The other tease in the film for the future was met with crickets.

On another note.

I can't be the only one whose eyes glaze over when anything in the MCU is about the kree and Skrulls. It's all syfy level gibberish.

It gives major Trekkie vibes, and not Abrams’ reboot mainstream Trekkie vibes either.

Surprised he didn't defend the Flash like this after he praised it as hard as he did.

It’s almost like your missing the subtext of what he’s really saying.

This is bad. I guess the last minute cast promotion wouldn't help the legs.

I feel like you regularly see actors promoting their film (including poorly received flops) on social media at least through the film's second weekend. That seems like a costly signal to me that studios believe immediate post-OW cast promotion actually does work to some degree.

I'm going to guess it gets dragged to 100M unless it's way too far to be dragged out. Disney will not like a MCU movie finishing below 100M, would be big headline news for sure.
