It will get a 75 Million opening. But it probably has a ceiling of low 80's,with PEANUTS likely to grab,PIXAR like, a percentage of the adult evening audience.

But some alarms are going off about a rumored 600 Million break even point for SPECTRE. It will make it,but still, the huge cost of SPECTRE might cut into the profits. I would not be surprised if EON really cracks down on the costs in the next Bond film. EON has a history of doing that when a Bond film goes way over budget..which SPECTRE apparently did.

Moonraker went widly over budget. Although it was the biggest grossing (in unadjusted dollars) BOnd film to date,  in terms of actual profits it made much less then The Spy WHo Loved Me due to the high costs . Brocolli really cracked down on spending for the nest Bond Film "For Your Eyes Only" which cost much less then Moonraker.. I suspect his Daughter Barbara will do likewise on the next Bond film.

In the leaked Sony e-mails, it was Sony who suggested they cut things to reduce the budget and the producers refused to make any major changes. I think the biggest expense is Craig but he's contracted for one more film, I think not shooting on such a tight schedule would help too

Its always been huge overseas. Casino did 430m in 2006.

Yes but $417m for QoS to $800m for Skyfall was an insane jump, even with the difference in market in those 4 years. An increase to $600m would've been the more normal jump with the market expansion.

On an aside, I just realized for the first time that QoS decreased from CR OS. Maybe Spectre actually will end up decreasing OS from SF after all.

It will be fine even if it did cost them $350m+, but they're lucky Skyfall turned the franchise into an OS juggernaut. If not for that they might have lost money on this with that kind of budget.

They will lose money with Spectre, the question is only how much.

It needs 1b WW to profit, and upon seeing the critical reception, I doubt it will get anywhere near that number.

What kind of nonsense is this? It will most definitely not lose money.

Check out the overseas thread. Apparently it can possibly reach 900m overseas alone

The Bond movies are heavily subsidized by sponsors. They make so much money that they TURNED DOWN $50 million from Sony. There is no way they can lose.

Wait... this needs 1b$ to make a profit? Where does this information come from?

350m budget, 150m marketing at the very least (the norm for a big blockbuster), the studio only gets 50% of the gross, China gross being a bigger piece of the cake (which would mean less money since the studio only takes 25% from it). There is still the hefty producers' fee that we know nothing about.

I'm sure ancillary revenue will make up for it, though.

It seems you are now saying they will not lose money with Spectre?

I said they would lose money in the threathical run (which was implied since the guy I quoted was only talking about box office).

It seems like people either LOVE this movie or they HATE it.

Some see it as paying tribute to Bonds of the past, being a big-glamorous-escapists picture, and contributing to what is our modern day mythology.

Others say they ran out of ideas, stole ideas from past films, and the 50 yr old isn't in it nearly enough.

One thing is for sure, they really do not make your average picture like this anymore and I respect that.

In Skyfall, Bond sipped more obviously from a Heineken bottle in a bar scene, and the company — for which Craig has appeared in character as 007 in adverts — is believed to have shelled out £28 million for the privilege. This in itself paid for almost a third of the film's £94 million budget.

Bond's product placement deals are so huge that makes the budgets a moot point. It's not just because it's a huge franchise, it's because Bond is like the ultimate male icon. I'm pretty sure all the brands that target men probably paying way more money to be in a Bond movie than in Transformers or superhero movies.
