Worse Sun than Blue Beetle (6,5M) , Dark Phoenix (7,9M) and Shazam 2 (7,4M). Just a little above The Suicide Squad (5,9M) and Fantastic Four (5,8M) . Not far away of Halloween Ends Sunday drop (-49%).

So

Captain Marvel opening day $61m

The Marvels opening weekend $48m

Joker officially joins it as a sequel to open less opening weekend than the original did in opening day.

Are there any others?

ALICE IN WONDERLAND 40.8M [opening day]

THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS 26.9M [opening weekend]

Joins the club of sequels no one asked for and that destroyed the legacy of the first one (at least for The Joker, CM was only a marketing abomination that got lucky for being in between a two-part avengers movie)

Meanwhile at WB

Zaslav has to be so happy he didn't greenlight this thing. It was all previous management.

You'll also notice James Gunn hasn't promoted this flop at all.

Weird, since he promoted The Flash as one of the best movies he ever saw (wtf), probably because his overlords ordered him to remain silent about this one.

Sounds like they didn't want to repeat what happened with Flash. There's still embarrassment this time but arguably less of it among those third party people.

Pretty sure he did greenlight it, was one of the first under his leadership.

Joker 2 was already in development before the merger. Previous management did want a sequel already. But I guess it was on Zaslav depending on when they started.
