Unlikely it will do Your Name level result, but $50M lifetime is not impossible though I just expect $30M.

The caution here is reasonable. DS highly manga anime style may turn some people away.

MIyaozaki and Shinkai's animation style looked for appealing to general public and the theme they touch are easier to be embraced.

DS break Your Name record in Taiwan as highest grossing Japanese film, surpassing 250m in local currency. DS will soon challenge Frozen 2's 344m local currency animation record.

According to local news, the number is even higher at 273m, versus Your Name, : 250.25m

Taiwan Box Office #DemonSlayer $3.74M on its second weekend (-8%) . Cumulative $9.56M #DemonSlayerKimetsuNoYaiba beats Your Name‘s number, which final gross $7.7M

:ohmygod:

This unexpected hold and record breaking speed could mean that DS will easily double Your Name number in Taiwan.

This actually mean something for DS' overseas potential. and i have started to see some buzz in my country

>Demon Slayer: Mugen Train threepeats. Biggest Fourth Weekend ever (by 65%), even big enough to be the biggest opening weekend for a local film. Biggest Four Week Total (by a 2:1 margin). Fastest to ¥20 Billion. Fastest to 15 million admissions. And much more that's been discussed the past few pages.

>The Voice of Sin enjoyed a decent second weekend dip after opening over a discount weekend last week, and has assured that it'll reach the ¥1 billion (~$10 million) milestone.

>Monster Strike: Lucifer - Dawn of Despair is an estimate. Oddly its weekend figure hasn't been released yet despite playing fairly wide (284 locations), so I'll update it when it's available. 461 Days of Bento is also an estimate for the time being; its weekend figure hasn't been released yet either, but I'll update it.

>The Legend of Hei performed pretty well for a Chinese important animated film, selling 24,386 admissions over the weekend across 135 screens. I doubt this is the best debut for a Chinese imported animated feature, but it's certainly pretty high because I can't recall ever seeing one debut in the Top 10 (thanks to the lack of Hollywood films, it made it!).

The Weekend Top 10 is up 71% (based on the few estimates above) versus the same weekend last year.

Can you tell me how many admissions sold DS this weekend, please?

It's getting a release in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. Wakanim described it as "their biggest theater release ever" and said more info and a release date would be given "very soon".

Here we go! $1b worldwide! Top movie of 2020

BOM will probably mention DS in an article only when it surpasses Spirited Away, which is laughable. Been going there less and less since the imdb integration, but this is probably the final nail in the coffin for me. Pretty sad what they've done to a former favorite site of mine.

mojo probably will make this be in 2021 BO chart because it wouldn't be released in US in the rest of the year.

BOM is not Worldwide box office portal. Its Hollywood BoxOffice portal. Other languages films are just bonus which may get reported some time if officially reported.
