Big drop for all and Frozen out of top 10

This big drop will probably keep Maleficent in 50+ million total.

It's still having the best drop in the top 10. I'm still thinking 60m+ and maybe a little above 70m. It will have summer weekdays and Obon holiday to help its legs.

Oh and I knew Godzilla would have a good opening. People kept comparing it to Pacific Rim and nobody listened to me. :P

Very good for Godzilla.  Outpacing its morning/afternoon showings in the evening/night may be a sign it won't be as frontloaded as it could have been.  I'm pretty confident it can hit ¥600 million ($6 million) for the weekend.

And Eight Ranger 2 should do over 200 million ($2 million) if it doesn't drop too much tomorrow.

*Stage Greeting/Discount Day boost.

Best comparison for to predict the multipliers for Godzilla? Having played better in the evening, it should be attracting an older audience, but it also did pretty good in the morning which may mean it has some senior citizen appeal, too.

I'd go with The Wind Rises and The Kiyosu Conference as having the most audience overlap right now.  Both appealed to an older audience, but not so old that their morning showings were stronger than their evening showings.

I always thought that this was going to do good in Japan. It followed the original films quite faithfully. Very little of Godzilla shown until the very end. $50M might be done, I hope it'll at least have legs in Japan cause it didn't have it anywhere else.

Big drop for all and Frozen out of top 10

Will Frozen be out of top ten for the first time ever for the weekend too ?

I was hoping it can make it to $250 million in Japan. It only needs $4 million.

http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=intl&country=JP&id=frozen2013.htm (The decrease for Frozen was from June 7th)

http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/ (would have been nice to see it beat Harry Potter WW or at least the overseas total of Avengers)

The unique element about Godzilla is that it was shown as the creature that 'saves' human kind from the invasion by these other species.

So in a way, Godzilla is like a different form of Transformers ... it just can't speak. Instead of robots fighting you have dinosaur like creatures fighting.

You said to fmpro before that it will open $12M and end up with $100M+++ in Japan as Godzilla is from Japan and Toho will back it...   :P

Wow so they want to see this Godzilla, they're open-minded this year (in terms of movies I mean) ^^

Still not that open minded I think...  they want to see this Godzilla as this is their Godzilla...  Unless Captain America is doing $50M(unfortunately it just around $6M :( )  in Japan then I will say they are open minded...  By the way, I like your signature..." SUMMER,SUN,HOT BLONDIES AND BIKINI,YYYEEAAAHH  :D"  but how about black hair... ;)
