Wednesday is Ladies Day. Hence the huge jumps for both movies. And I would argue that BatB attracted more women than Aladdin, so maybe that's why the jump was bigger. We'll see on Thursday, if Aladdin drops smaller than BatB, then that's the case.

BatB first Thurs: 77,112 (-49% from Wed)

Aladdin with the same drop: 63,682

More or less both are going on same level ..(BATB leading due to female audience) ... Thursday figure will be interesting

70,555 Thurs for Aladdin, much better hold.

What do you think we're looking at for final gross?

There’s a good chance of $85+, but it’s been a long time since there was this strong an opening in this part of the year. Some markets you can pretty much tell where a movie will end after the first 7 days, with Japan it’s often more like the first 20.

An interesting weekend, one that's rather difficult to predict since five of the top ten films (three of which are debuting) are limited or near-limited release anime films. These types of films can be very tricky to track and predict and often have extreme average ticket price fluctuations depending on if they have special fan events or giveaways. What isn't difficult to predict this weekend, however, is what film will claim the #1 spot...

>Aladdin will effortlessly stay atop the box-office, as it should until July 12th, and like the majority of non-fanbase films with major debuts (~¥1 billion or more), it'll likely achieve an incredible second weekend hold. It's rare to see second weekend drops above 20/25%, and everything is suggesting a potential sub-10% hold for Aladdin. There are also some instances (Beauty and the Beast is actually one of them) of major openers increasing over their second weekend, so I wouldn't totally rule that out for Aladdin yet either, though it's unlikely.

>Men in Black International will debut in second place, but it's going to do so rather unimpressively. If it debuts near the forecast, it'll experience a 50%+ drop from Men in Black III... And I don't have it going much higher than the forecast, so this film is going to be a real blemish on the successful track record of this franchise. It likely won't gross more than ¥1.5 billion (sub-$15 million).

Is there a chance that this will increase on its 2nd weekend?

This looks possible, will see how it plays out. Aladdin had a nice boost between 7PM and 9PM last week.
