Thanks. When I read the Wikipedia article about this comic/property they wrote in a way that I thought the original title was "Valerian & Laureline" and I was not happy about the film title dropping the female character.

But I see I was wrong.

 

The reason why may due to the fact of a spoiler linked to the Laureline character origins.

Besson is apparently writing two sequels already, so even if this film does poorly, it'd be interesting to see what the scripts were and how they would've turned out.

I really see no problem with him writing sequels for them on his own free will?  If he likes writing them, then let him write.  It doesn't necessarily mean they'll get made.
