Now they’re saying there may be new separate app for classic movies (TCM). We don’t know if that means they’ll be removing the TCM hub from HBO MAX though.

THEY HAVE THIS!!!!  It is called the Criterion Collection/Channel!  Also WB TRIED THIS before with FilmStruck and they said it was not profitable and SHUT IT DOWN.

Again,

I might be super basic here, but the best assets the WBD has is it’s breath of programming. We don’t need a bunch of baby streaming subs. You need to combine them into ONE and position yourself as essential because you a one stop shop for the goods.

If they want to be Disney, this is how Disney did it. Hulu, ESPN, Disney+ Bundle.

This is the dumbest move.

They also had the DC service. What was it? DC Universe or something?

All these mini-services are way too niche to work, when consumers are feeling the strain of rising costs of living and thereby looking to cut back. Consolidation is what's needed and, killing off original scripted while at the same time fracturing your back catalogue is a strategy that definitely won't work out.

So, let's see what actually gets announced.

Reading between the lines, it seems to me that the big picture new strategy here is to “diversify”, that it to seek solid, marginal profits spread over a lot of smaller entities

Which is fine for cable channels, even the lower level streaming stuff, all of which is Zaslov’s background … but not for a major studio (WB) and streaming service (HBO) that relies more heavily on the big budget, brand name, showy releases to bring people in and let them find their way to the smaller stuff

In addition, we’re likely entering a period of consolidation following the streaming boom, as there are already too many options for too few subscribers, making bundles better value and more like to succeed, so to apparently try to go in the opposite direction is a curious choice

Clint’s 92 and still pitching movies…only to get rejected. 50 year partnership over because of the creator of Honey Boo Boo.

I’m sure him and other WB mainstay directors have been/will be contacted by rival studios like Universal to pick them up.

Is this a legit source?

I give this guy 3 years before he is fired. But it's the damage he's gonna do in the meantime that is the scary part.

For now, though, the company’s existing streaming services HBO Max and Discovery+ will remain their own products, and on Thursday the company took its first step in using its larger content library to beef up those two offerings.

If that's the case why are they cancelling all the HBO Max originals makes zero sense, do they truly think that people will watch their shit on HBO Max? Two completely different demographics.

Wow Zaslav saved roughly 20-29% by cancelling a film. Oh you should feel so proud.

Oh and now you have pissed off a huge fanbase, you created immense negative backlash for your streaming service, and to top it all off you pissed off Hollywood.

Sure hope that was worth it you cheap asshole.

Thanks Zaslav for doing the needful.

Next up, Peacemaker.

I do think people on here really need to stop with overreacting with what execs might or might not do, we had certain posters freaking out over Bob Chapek doing something to Pixar and WDAS because of Lightyear's failure and now they've turned their attention to David Zaslav and are now freaking over whether films like Dune Part II will end being cancelled, just stop, breath and take a break from your screen.
