amazing how savage the Chinese box office can be. MH2 opened significantly higher than DC2 and now it's only managing 1/5 of its daily gross

Can't that date be moved? I'd like IW to surpass FF8 as the highest global weekend opener.

No.China will still remain May 4 release.May 4 is best case. They push back Black Panther 3 weeks.May 4 is only one week after new release.

btw ff8 OW in China, even Monster Hunt2 didn't break that record during CNY.Though Infinity war is rare Hollywood film has a shot to cross $300M+ total this year.

Can Operation Red Sea and Detective China Town 2 both reach $550 million?

Maoyan is projecting right now $610m for Operation Red Sea and $545m for Detective Chinatown 2, but I do not know if they will go so high since competition should start to cut their late legs (Black Panther comes next week and there is an Indian film with a superb grade which should start to take screens).

Hey olive, so Gavin said on twitter than Pacific Rim 2 is just 111 mins long. Due to its relatively short runtime, do you think theatres can get more showings in during the day, allowing for a larger OW? Or do you think it'll detract from it as it's too short for what viewers would expect from the film?

Interesting regarding Bajrangi Bhaijian, WOM hasn't fully kicked in. It's probably being hurt by other movies with great WOM even though it has highest score on Maoyan.

Any pre-sales numbers for BP in China? Or how is the buzz with the movie over there? high expectations? or just a SW buzz-less level?

Far better than TLJ, even better than most Marvel solo movies. Black Panther beat Homecoming by 30% in advance ticket sale at the same point.

General audience in China don’t care if runtime is over 120 mins or not unless it’s TF or Furious movie. Most local movies are under 120 mins, and 111 mins is very good(theaters love it). Wanda theater chains will give full support. So don’t have to worry about showtimes.
