How come all these movies are releasing their embargoes so early? First Angry Birds, then X-Men and now Alice. They're only worsening the buzz with the reviews they're getting.

Angry Birds is out in a lot of countries this week and X-Men next week, have no idea about Alice though.

European premieres

I'm guessing they were expecting good reviews, if they're expecting bad, it's a late embargo.

The earliest release date for Alice 2 is May 25th, only 2 days before the US release. Not really a reason to let reviews out this early. Or maybe they see it as critic proof or don't care.

Bingo. The movie is going to do well overseas so it really doesn't matter how reviews are.

Or maybe they were expecting good reviews, hence the very early embargo lift?

Oh wait, it must be because they "don't care".

Oof. I'll still see this (I actually quite liked the first one) but I honestly haven't been expecting much, and as it turns out, perhaps for good reason too.

Same here. Trailers looked nice, will see it, as will many many others. Critics can go and see CA3 [emoji39]

He also made Edward Scissorhands and Big Fish.

And Beetlejuice... and Ed Wood... and Batman... and The Corpse Bride... and Sleepy Hollow.

People make fun of Burton, but they forget his earlier slate of work is a touch of genius. Shame he lost himself inside his own ass, but oh well.

Burton's been in a loooooong rut. BUT, PeeWee, Beetlejuice, Batman, Scissorhands, Returns, Nightmare Before XMas, Sleepy Hollow and Charlie are all pretty great. Corpse Bride Sweeney Todd, Big Eyes and Frankenweenie are passable. Alice, Shadows, Mars Attacks are awful. And, you know, Miss Perengrine looks decent too with Jane Goldman scripting. He'll be fine.
