How come all these movies are releasing their embargoes so early? First Angry Birds, then X-Men and now Alice. They're only worsening the buzz with the reviews they're getting.

Angry Birds is out in a lot of countries this week and X-Men next week, have no idea about Alice though.

I'm guessing they were expecting good reviews, if they're expecting bad, it's a late embargo.

The earliest release date for Alice 2 is May 25th, only 2 days before the US release. Not really a reason to let reviews out this early. Or maybe they see it as critic proof or don't care.

Bingo. The movie is going to do well overseas so it really doesn't matter how reviews are.

And Beetlejuice... and Ed Wood... and Batman... and The Corpse Bride... and Sleepy Hollow.

 

People make fun of Burton, but they forget his earlier slate of work is a touch of genius. Shame he lost himself inside his own ass, but oh well.

Burton's been in a loooooong rut. BUT, PeeWee, Beetlejuice, Batman, Scissorhands, Returns, Nightmare Before XMas, Sleepy Hollow and Charlie are all pretty great. Corpse Bride Sweeney Todd, Big Eyes and Frankenweenie are passable. Alice, Shadows, Mars Attacks are awful. And, you know, Miss Perengrine looks decent too with Jane Goldman scripting. He'll be fine.

Feel bad for Bobin, I think he has potential in the big budget realm. 

 

Sounds like the movie is at its best when SBC and HBC are scene chewing but we all knew that would be the case.
