This looks about right. First animated family movie of the summer and no big animated movies since Zootopia will help this for sure.

Jungle Book will be a huge family event. Angry Birds gets wrecked 1 week after by Alice 2.

The Jungle Book isn't animated but that's a big family movie.

Jungle Book is 5 weeks before this. Alice 2 doesn't matter as much because Memorial Day softens drops. Also, Alice 2 I see doing 50 4 day and 120 domestic. Disney didn't even care enough to push Alice 2 at Cinemacon yesterday.

Wait, they did nothing at Cinemacon? Under 120M is looking better each day

I hope not. Rovio has put lots of money and effort to this. If it gets hammered, might be the beginning of the end for the whole company. [emoji53]

Yup, they spoke about Civil War, showed 27 minutes of Dory, talked about the rest of their slate, brought out Pixar and WDAS people to talk about the upcoming movies and ended the presentation. Alice 2 was not even mentioned despite being just 7 weeks away from release right now. Their entire marketing effort for Alice is shockingly lax, they didn't even do Superbowl spots after releasing the spots online early. They seem to have written it off already.

This film is hard to predict because it could be big but more than likely ends up meh like the films in the Nov-Dec corridor last year (120-130m)

I think it's going to be around the same size as the Rio movies.

Since Variety tends to be a good teller of how critical reception in general will be...

Who would've thought that The Goddamn Angry Birds Movie would be the 1st good VG adaptation (or at least the 1st one since Mortal Kombat)?

The trailer wasn't bad at all, I was expecting mostly positive reviews for this anyway. 70-80% RT range and this won't bomb either. Still gotta think about the numbers to give my prediction, but I don't expect it to bomb. Maybe Rio numbers?

EDIT: I see I already had a prediction for this on this thread, I didn't remember it, but looks about right.

It doesn't look that bad really, but it has too many mountains to climb to go much higher than that.
