The Hobbit is NOT The Lord of the Rings.Never have, never will.Despite what PJ tried to do wit he movie to make you believe so.Why can't people acknowledge this very simple fact ???There never was passion for The Hobbit book, it was a child book the author himself was not even fond of.The Lord of The Rings trilogy books are like the Holy grail of Fantasy litterature for the past 60 years.

People aren't saying that it is.We're simply fortunate enough to have a closely-related series to base our Hobbit-talks/predicts off of.

It did. Assuming ROTK's midnights had the same average as the year, it was 1.33m, TH's, assuming $9 average (just because) is 1.44m.

And some small indie franchise about a boy wizard. 5m for POA about a half year later and 6.3m for GOF 2 years later.LOTR was a fan frenzy franchise if there ever was one, so this is no TA. This is a prequel to freaking LOTR. Half of New Moon is not impressive or unimpressive. It just is. At least it was better than OOTP's 12m, but that was 5 years ago.

And yet we still before yesterday never had a December film do close to what the Hobbit did. There is no statistical trend showing vast increases for December midnights, no matter the film.

That's because no franchise film the size of LOTR has come out in December since ROTK. Not one. Do you guys think that if Potter came out in December it would have a muted midnight because it's December?
