85th Academy Awards Ceremony Thread SADNESS

Recommended Posts

Is "woman ambition" equal to a self-pity campaign ("Oh gosh I had to starve myself for months and cut my hair to seek the darkness inside me, please pity me, I don't have any real confidence. GIMME DAT OSCAH!") that reeks desperation and try-hard mentality of a crazy manic theater girl in every single interviews leading to the awards ceremony for 4 months, yes, there are plenty of leggit reasons to express some annoyed comments toward her.

Saying ankward rehearsed bullshit like using a Golden Globes for supporting actress as a "weapon against self-doubt", please...

If you get mercilessly attacked like she was ( and still is), self-doubt may start to creep in. My problem is that mobs don't know when to stop. Say your piece and move on. She somehow became one of the biggest villains on the internet just because she valued an Oscar more than it should be valued.

Being creepily obsessed of winning an Oscar like she was, was creepy to watch. Cue the annoyance generated, not the other way around. (Please, the lack of confidence and crippling self-doubt tune she displayed during the whole campaign while she played Selina Kyle as a lead actress like she did, that rings false for me).

She's cuddling it (and surely talked to it  ) like a baby she's been expecting all her life.

You know, to people like us, we look at them as spoiled pampered debutantes. But this is the pinnacle (as tele said) of their career. Winning an oscar is a big deal and if they acted as though they didn't care, then people would criticize them for that too. There aren't many Jack's and Warren's anymore...guys who exude swag and can get away with any and all emotions. Hathaway's are real imo, because having the industry tell you that you are the best for even that one year, has to be something that none of us can really understand.

Not to mention winning an Oscar gives you a valuable (albeit small window) where you can either take on prestige projects or get a better rate (or both!) for your work, so it's precious not just from an egotistical view, but financially or artistically as well.

And another thing is, do you know how long Hathaway has been in the business? She's young still of course, but she has been around for 10 years and she started out doing kiddie films. So this is a very big deal for her because this means she is thought of seriously. I'm happy for her, as happy as I can be for someone I really don't know or care much about but to me she seems genuine in her gratitude.
