Sooo, are those incredible holds and increases for Big Hero 6 kinda normal for december releases?

*Prays that it's above the usual holiday holds

Wow, Corpse was way underestimating them both.

Yeah, especially Yokai. 5.4 billion yen already. It could actually get to 7b. If it does, it will be harder for BH6 to pass Yokai's total, but BH6 will get 6b+ I think.

Apparently a lot of other movies increased this past weekend (The Vancouver Asahi increased 50%, The Hobbit +8.3%, Gone Girl +4.5%, etc), so I think the increase was kinda normal. But BH6 still had the 2nd biggest increase in the top 10, and a 3rd weekend that is better than its OW. That's pretty impressive. Usually it's a sign of good legs to follow. BH6's holds on weekdays during the holidays were great too. So I'm guessing overall it's a better-than-normal performance for a December release.

Just check frozen, you will get it :D

I get it.  I don't expect it to continue like Frozen but right now it holding brilliantly.

I recently saw Frozen and Princess Kaguya on back to back nights.  Frozen was pretty and fun with catchy music but Kaguya is a beautiful emotional moving masterwork with a far more complex and engaging heroine than Anna and Elsa combined.  It made about 1/10th what Frozen did in Japan. I just can't.... :circles:  Embrace your native genius Japan!

Additional Notes:
>The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will pass The Desolation of Smaug (¥1.40 billion) sometime next week. However, it doesn't look likely to match An Unexpected Journey's total (¥1.70 billion)

>Naruto and Parasyte are practically tied (a measly $2,000 and 5,055 admissions separate them). Hopefully both have enough in the tank to reach ¥2 billion, but they'll have to crawl to the milestone.
